Knowing toyota they will make this a hybrid before they ever bring a diesel to the states. And I'm not joking about that either. Just look at the new rav 4.

It amazes me how many people without 3rd gen tacos frequent these forums to bash the truck.

Actually I won't be frequenting this forum much longer. I've been going back and forth from a Ranger to Tacoma. Love the look of the taco. And I really wanted one. But in the end, I can't believe how poorly that motor/transmission behaves. And I still want a toyota for their reliability/resale etc.. But its just too much compromise in performance and comfort. And I'm frustrated that Toyota has not addressed the performance issues. I had a diesel powered prado overseas as well and that was a great SUV. Best in fact. I've heard the second gen was better. Or to buy a manual but then your MPG's really go down the toilet. I didn't care for the low seats in the taco but I was willing to overlook that fault. But the transmission woes on top was too much.

But see, I completely offset your opinion. Whatever you think is null and void lol. My truck is exactly what I expect in a truck.

Nope. Hardly anyone has. Watched a bunch of videos on YT. There are allot of driving impressions released now since Ford started to allow reviewers to do that about a week back. And based on about 10 or so reviews it seems very positive. The trail control is shift on the fly and smooth and no jerky like the taco (I've seen video presentation of this in real time). Works up to 20 mph. So they have videos of that and Ford basically owned Toy on that technology. Most drivers say the auto works as it should and is not really noticeable. Very smooth etc.. Just read tonight that 0-60mph is under 7 seconds. Now that is a huge swing from the taco which takes about 10 seconds. Its looking like the Ford has allot more torque early on then the Toyota. And thats what you need in a truck. I have not heard one complaint from anyone, anywhere about issues with the ecoboost or the 10 speed. Wheras on just about any tacoma review something is going to be said about the motor/trans. And some just flat out and say get the manual. But personally, i may be ordering a XLT crew with sport package FX4.

I had a chance to drive one at the auto show, but I decided packing for Maui was more important.

I will never be an early adopter of any new gen vehicle.

    Good luck.

Yes being an early adopter is risky business. But I need a truck lol. At least the platform has been out for many years. The 10 speed is used in the F-150. Even the 2.3 ecoboost is already used in mustang/explorer. But who knows. Anything can happen.

You do realize the Tacoma 0-60 is 7 seconds? Not bad for a 4500 lbs metal box.

I set my seats the day I bought my truck and haven’t touched them since. This means nothing to me

Right. Unbelievable the amount of trivial whining / bitching and bashing. Sales numbers don’t lie.

Funny because in 1974 the pinto sold over 500k units. More than twice what the Tacoma does. How was the reception on those?

I personally have zero issues with the seat height or position, I wouldn't have bought it of it wasn't comfortable to drive, why would anyone buy a car that wasn't comfortable.

I owned 3 rangers before my 2nd gen Taco. Won't get me near another ford... It would be an f150 if anything. Can't get a crew cab with a real bed is no bueno.

Ranger looks to be an escape with a little bed IMO.

Tacoma is the gold standard for mid size pickups, perhaps that will change, but not overnight and not because of seat adjustment.

I'd rather they put in comfortable seats first. Then worry about power.

Lol, I think they sold a lot of transistor radios, CRT TV's and rotary dial phones too.

If they sold 500k pintos then, that must have been what people bought....

In the year 2060, what kind of vehicles will people be driving?....

    Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! In 2060 I’m sure there will be popular brands that aren’t around today. Also don’t think anyone will really be driving. Everything will be fully self driving by then. Vehicles might even be flying then, who knows. I often think how crazy it must of been for my grandma to have seen what she did in her lifetime. Born in the early 30’s she seen some of the first automobiles still on the road, to self parking cars right before she passed. With tech advancing so much faster as time goes on, I can’t fathom what I will see in my lifetime. Given of course I live a full life.
