Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction I have never done any wiring and am looking to add a 12v/USB plug to the back of my center console how and what power source do I tap into for power? Is this possible to do without running wire to the battery...

There is power under the console, that's where the inverter for the bed power outlet lives.

According to the schematic, the inverter is only powered when the engine is running. It's off in the accessory position.

Another option would be to run the wire over to the fuse panel on driver side and use a fuse tap onto the Cig/Power socket fuse.

Get one of these it's called a fuse tap, available at all auto parts store, cheaper online. Fuse box left of steering wheel behind compartment . pull the cig lighter socket fuse which is live 24/7,, or a diff fuse that is only n with the truck running, insert this , replace fuse you pulled into bottom socket, insert fuse appropriate for your use in the top one. Run wire to your device ground it, done...only reason to run wire to the fusebox is if you want per all the time...if you have the bed power outlets there is the inverter under your console pull your center console use multimeter you will find power there

I did this mod last summer with the help of @Dj Suisav . Couldn't have done it without him.
Check for the post in my build for a play-by-play. I know that @ERMB has done this too. He may be able to help you out too.
All the best. It is a great mod.

How many amps does the fuse tap need to be the one online says 15A is the good?

The fuse tap itself doesn't dictate how many amps, but if you insert it into a location you reinsert the fuse you pulled into the fuse tap, that protects that cicuit just as befire. The new fuse you insert should be appropriate for your use. Say you have two 2.1 amp usb chargers, etc, then use Saya 7.5 or 10a fuse ( not an expert here please check with a mechanic or whatever , electrics do cause fires )

    P.S. RIP PRINCE
