Couple questions now, would a 1000 watt inverter get hot if used for a while, do they get real hot? I'd like to put one underneath the console where the factory one goes but not if it's liable to get too hot while running. I don't plan on having to run it too long or regularly but if something happened and I had to run it for hours how hot do they get?
Secondly, would I be bette off hooking up a second battery in my truck to run the inverter off of. I think I've seen this thrown around but not sure how it all works. Would it be worth it, is there an advantage, how would I go about hooking up a secondary battery?

I wouldn't bury an inverter that big under the console without opening up the vent on the back of the console. I'd even consider trimming the console at the floor beside the seat to let more air in.
An inverter that big will most likely have a fan or 2 and draw almost 100 amps. It will get hot.

Use something like a marine dual battery switch or a large diode to isolate the batteries so the inverter can't suck current from the car battery.

    Another edit... This.

So I bought this 1000 watt power inverter to put in my truck. What gauge wire will I need to run to this from the batter to my cab. Will I also need to run a fuse with this. What would possibly be my best option for putting a power switch on my dash to shut off the power to the inverter whenever I wanted to.
