Power Locks won't unlock, alarm keeps going off

2014 Tacoma

My key fab can LOCK the tacoma, but when I try to UNLOCK it won't unlock. If I try to manually unlock with the key in the handle it sets off the security alarm. At first it just wasn't unlocking via the key fab and now it seems to beep three times at me when I hit unlock but doesn't unlock it at all. Additionally the security light is blinking 3x in a row.

Any ideas what is going on? I basically can't use the vehicle because I can't unlock it, and when I do the alarm goes off and it won't let me start it.

 

Had any body work to the drivers door lately?

 

Nope no work at all recently. I was wondering if the fob was dying? I was on a roadtrip camping when it started so I thought it might have been the cold temps, but it is persisting in the moderate climate now too.

 

Will the door lock work ,lock and unlock, from the door switch?

 

Are you sure there's no aftermarket alarm installed?

 

The (power) door lock does work from the outside manually (but triggers the alarm) and from the inside

 

I did purchase used so I can't confirm, I would have to look into that

I'd take a peek under the drivers side dash and see if there's any suspicious wiring, they typically aren't too hard to find.

 

I had this problem on my 2015. There are threads about it somewhere here, but the solution was to replace the locking motor in the door:
