Just to clarify, the inverter only works when the engine is running...400 watts when idling and 100 watts when driving. Unlike the 12v ports, the 110v outlet will not work when the ignition is in the "accessory" position

Well, I decided to go out and test it, and you're right, the outlet works w/o the engine running. At least, for my 2015 2nd gen. Post edited.

Most people say it doesnt work without the engine running, but very few actually go and test for themselves.

If it does, I can't imagine the 12v battery would last long at all

The manual is misleading, makes it sound as if the engine must be running. As if anyone would question if the outlet worked with the engine running.

I’m sure it “works” without the engine running but only at 100 watts and will turn off automatically after a certain amount of time as to not drain the battery. The iron probably works but on the lowest setting. Try cranking that iron to the hottest setting and I bet it won’t get to temp.

I would hope people who use the outlet would only use it for a short period with the car off. But it should last about a hour before you need to turn the car on to recharge.

If I'm reading the manual correctly it'll provide 400W as long as it's in P or N.

I don’t have much to do these days. I’m gonna check it with my iron right now. Lol and with a timer set. Screw it.

An iron pulls more than 400W though right?

This is correct, I am uploading a video right now to show everyone what works when the truck is not running.

    Here’s what I found:
Accessory on, button pushed for power to outlet. Turned iron on in lowest setting, tripped the breaker in 3 seconds. Started the engine, outlet on, iron on for 10 seconds before shutting off.

The iron way exceeds the rated wattage on the outlet.

Yes, most irons are 800w or higher. Do your wax at home dude.
