I just bought a 2022 TRD Tacoma, that only had 524 miles on it!! Sat in a garage for 3-years, Crazy....

So I noticed the in-cab power outlet is not working. Of course I went and googled the issue and only found (2) solutions. Neither worked.
    - Check the fuse under the driver side dash. Fuse is good...
    - Check to make sure its plugged in. So I took apart the dash and found it was plugged in and the connection/wires looked in good shape. I also amped out the wires and had no power.
I know its a 3-years old truck, but I am assuming the outlet never worked. Anyone else every come across this issue with a there new truck?

Since I had the dash apart I ran a wire from the center console into the dash to power my magnetic phone charge. Much cleaner not seeing any wires.. So I am not to concerned about the outlet, but I can't let it go..
Thanks in advance for the help!

^Which fuse did you check and how did you verify the it was good? With the fuse installed, probe the contacts from the top of the fuse with a test light. Make sure both contacts have power.

Just because it is a 3 year old vehicle that has not been used much does not mean that this is the cause of your issue. I vote you checked the wrong fuse and I cannot believe you disassembled the dash just for this!

    PS: welcome to TW!

    You checked the P/Outlet No1 and P/Outlet No2/USB fuses?

You said the truck sat for 3 years so rodents chewing wires is a possibility as well.

Buck, its not rocket science to take apart the dash!!! It took 5 minutes..
But maybe your just not mechanically inclined..
And I am well aware it may not be a new car issue, just asking questions.

Just in case you don't know asking questions is what leads you to solutions.. Which is the whole point of this website.

Next time move on before adding useless comments!!

Dm93: Funny you mentioned that, I thought the same thing.
Not that I can see everywhere, but I actually checked for rodent damage before buying the vehicle.

I did not however check the fuse box or the fuse with a tester... My Bad!!
I did the old hold up to the light trick.
I will grab a tester tomorrow..

    Thanks for the USEFUL advice....

Does the key have to be on for the outlet to work?

I assume you tested the wires for continuity as well as voltage?

So some type of DVM? You can check the fuses with that.

And just for confirmation, the key was on, correct?

LOL, if my benign comment triggered you this much, then you are going to have a lot of fun here.

PS: I spent decades working on nuclear submarines, so I am definitely mechanically inclined. Taking apart a dashboard is the easy part. Getting it all back together and working properly can be a real nightmare. Glad to hear that is not the case with the Taco. As I said, welcome to TW!

start here, and also note there is a data USB on the dash that I believe has a much lower output. So maybe there is a chance it does not have enough amps to power your device? I don't know electronics well at all, but I think to a few devices I own at home that will not charge or work without the proper charger, as some chargers (that all look the same, until I read the output) are too high or low. Just a thought.

Would you clarify if it is the USB outlet or the cigarette lighter adapter that you are referring to.

Me thinks OP did not realize that the truck ignition had to be "on" for these dash power supplies to work. I think that is a Toyota thing as my wife's 2010 Camry is the same way. I really was not meaning to piss him off but I guess I did. My fear is he has slithered back into internet obscurity.

Oh also a lot of people just look at a fuse and determine that it's "ok or good"
Don't check with a multimeter or try a new fresh one.
