It's really no longer an issue for me. I have four fobs. Three have no emergency key. I have the tailgate key. I also have a 20A 12v dc line running under the truck to the tailgate area, so if I *had* to, I could tap into that line to provide enough power to use a fob to open the door in the event my battery dies when I don't have a physical key on my person.

When cranking slows, I get a new battery. Replaced it last fall.

    Happy to be wrong!

When using the manual key to lock and unlock you can distinctly hear the electronic actuators working with very little resistance in the tumbler. This led me to believe the key and tumbler isn't manually connected to the rods that control the lock.

You can see what I'm describing in the video.

This makes sense with power the actuator locks and unlocks before any resistance is felt in the key.

You disconnected negative battery cable, and try the key on driver side? Leave the window down, and lock all doors, hood up. Like I wrote in my reply, I can unlock and open my driver side door with key. Negative battery cable disconnected.:D
