Hey guys, just getting around to trying to learn the new truck.
2024 TRD O/R. Power slider on rear window, pushed button and it opened right up, BUT it will not close. Yes, pulled/ pushed button both ways and nothing. Truck knows it is opened.
    Am I missing something?

Some on here have reported the limit switch which is mounted on or near the sliding mechanism is kinda feeble and becomes disconnected from its mounting position.

I can hear it actuate, a little thump if you will, but the window does not attempt to move. Checked to to if any obstruction present, nothing I can see or feel. Tried to push/jiggle a bit and no movement. It does tell me that a window is open.

Well Toyota, it didn't take me 6 months with it getting dark and supposed to rain. My expectations were probably to high anyway...
Got it sealed up for now and still looking for any solution you all might have. I'll update anything I find out.

    @Toyota not a good look at 675 miles. 20250729_204525.jpg

Why not go to the experts at the Toyota service center? It’s still under warranty to get it sorted out.

Well that was the plan but a little past hours last night when I needed it closed. Figured there might be something I was missing and that is why I asked if anyone knew anything.

So I said I would update and here it is. Left for work this morning, got about a mile down the road, figured wth give it try. Yep closed right up it did. Who knows but it's closed now.

At least you have "experts" at your service center.

Vehicles with power windows should come with a roll of crash wrap.

Sounds like you have gotten it closed, but it's probably a software or sensor issue and hopefully this is the one and only time it presents an issue. I say software issue because that's what it is with Fords and their power window issues. The windows don't need that much information to operate and manual windows would prevent this from ever being an issue.

Manual sliders are great on a regular cab but kinda hard to open and close on the move with a quad cab

I'd rather have something I can operate with out any power when it comes to keeping the elements out of the cab. I can live with out the convenience of operating the window from the driver's seat. Yes you are right a power rear slider is much more convenient.

You may have a defective solenoid that's going bad way before it's time. My last vehicle started having problems with two power windows after about 15 years. No issues opening, but total gamble on if they'd close. Wait a bunch of time and shut the vehicle off the 10min+ and it would close right up. Lots of research and time later I found out it was a symptom of solenoid failure. I replaced the window motor in each door and problem was immediately solved.

Just sharing in case it helps

I use my back window in my 2017 almost daily if not weekly w/o any issues in ~8 years. Besides me being a dumb fuck and leaving it open when it may rain....

I doubt the design is not any different from mine. So, hopefully this is just a faulty install or loose wire that got through production and the dealer will fix it quickly.

I appreciate all the thoughts and ideas for sure. Not going to open it again until I can have more time and space if case of a repeat.

I came out of a 2012 FJC that I drove for 12 years and the amount of computers, sensors, nannys in the new truck is just baffling. I wondered if I just didn't have the right number of buttons pushed in the right sequence to make the window close. Lol. The FJ didn't even have heated mirrors....

you definitely could just apply 12v to the connector and make it close on your own instead of taping bright red duct tape to the back of your truck

Lol, I know. Tired, hungry, and getting grumpy. Had a pour, dinner, and went to bed.
In my defense, it was polyethylene tape so no sticky residue.

I can't recall of hearing any 3rd gens with a power rear window not be able to be closed. The 4G has a window open indicator light, I'm thinking the window controls run through something else electronic.
