I understand the testing the wires in this way. I was going to test all the wires like this. Turn car on unplug a wire see what effect it had to identify the wire. But was scared off of this idea when it was strongly suggested to disconnect battery before taking out seats. I guess because of causing lights a chimes from coming on causing a code that would be trouble to get rid of. Or perhaps throwing off the computer.

I believe the seats also sense for weight in them.

Your going down a dangerous slippery slope here.
There is more than one one system associated with the air bag.
Unless you know what your doing these things will explode.
And with the questions you are asking you have no reason to be playing with them.
I’m not sure in your state but a safety item is checked and inspected.
I have seen a few people attempt to modify their seats in my career.
A couple of them died before their time.
Walk away accidents end up with seats ripped out or separated and or the seat did not respond like factory had intended.
Your not going to get the air bags to work correctly.
These systems are engineered and tested to the max.
And car companies are still having issues with them.

You don’t have power seats. Get over it. Buckle up and drive. Use some muscles to adjust the seat.
If the truck is uncomfortable, sell it.
How would you feel if you got tagged in the pass door with a loved one and your mods contributed to
Their injuries when maybe nothing would have happened to them.

I know you are just searching for information.
    Think very carefully.
It’s a new truck with the latest safety systems.
With the idiots on the road we need all the help we can get.
It’s not like it was 30 or 40 years ago.

Quite often. My wife is short. We both drive it. Still not worth the trouble to rig up electric seats however. The adjustment literally takes me 1.5 seconds.

This. I just wish the bottom had height adjustment. The height it’s set at is workable for me but not perfect. Definitely not enough for me to sell her (like some crazy people here are suggesting).

I agree with everything except the statement at the end. Your chances of dying in a car accident 30-40 years ago are MUCH higher than today.

    Absolutely.
Meaning the cars are much more high tech today and safer.
And throwing seats ect in a old car would not have the same results as a new vehicle.

Wow, everybody acts like no one has ever modified a vehicle before. Unplug the Yellow air bag wire and nothing is going to explode. Jesus christ, I have removed my seats without disconnecting the battery when I installed seat heaters.

Now, having said that, if you don't know what your doing when it comes to wiring, then find someone who does know what they're doing or don't do it. You're not likely to blow anything up, but you can cause a short or damage electronics.
