hey - I just traded my 2018 for a 2023 - took off my AMP running boards - my installer is telling me that they won't install on the 2023 - anyone done this before?

Best thing is to contact Amp directly. They have tech support contact on their site and would probably give you the most accurate answer. The AmpResearch site only lists 2016-2021 compatibility , but in my experience those fitment tables are sometimes updated late. Although the fact that 2022 isn’t listed yet may be an issue.

apparently Toyota changed the wiring in 2022 and has not made it public to them. Both of them said the same thing - I asked if they could just like tap into it - and both said 'No'. Anybody need some PowerSteps? looks like I have some that I can't use.

I have the AMP steps on my 2nd Gen. They were on it when I bought the truck, so not sure what the install entailed.

They've been great for me in the 9 years I've had the truck. Although I did have to replace both electric motors once. During a trip up to the mountains, it was a snowy/icy mess. I didn't think about it affecting the steps in any way, but undoubtedly snow/ice packed around/in the motors and some of the internal gearing broke when I attempted to open the doors. Easy solution though, from then on when there's snow I just turn off the steps in either the up or down position so I don't have any other issues.

Random people still trip out when they see the steps drop down lol.

I completely agree - I loved them - which is why I kept them. Apparently if you have a 22 or 23 you better learn to live without them!

@simplysql maybe @daveeasa could help you out before you go and sell them. He may be able to come up with a work around wiring harness, or some guidance?

Surely it can be done. They may not want the liability though.

Yeah, I'd like to hear specifically what these guys think has changed with 2022? That would be something I'm not currently aware of and would augment my knowledge.

I don't have anything to contribute directly at this point in time, Caribe is the best resource for now.

I got you bro! So I did this a few months back and I have to give credit to @caribe makaira as he was the one that gave me these. I will say when installing mine they had tabs on the top of the motor that you were supposed to hang on the frame and the one bolt goes through the hold you made. Well on my 2021 TRD/OR the front bracket area they were telling me to put template and mount was impossible. the frame had more welding on it and enclosed so the top tab couldn't physically hang on the top of the frame. Ultimately I slid the bracket down to an already hold in the frame and it wasn't too far away. Of course this means the bracket isn't under the main stepping area when getting in on driver side, however this really didn't lead to improper weight coverage as I am 150 and I am the only one driving so I just don't jump on the step. That said these diagrams Were a huge help and Caribe is absolutely right when he told me to use these wires instead of splicing from the loom on the ground. I tried a few splicing but I wasn't getting the correct wire as colors overlap a little in the loom however you cannot go wrong if you follow this diagram and I had it wired up in 15 minutes so best of luck!

Sorry I couldn't get this to you earlier. it's possible they changed the wringing but I would think the termination points in the plug might still be the same so if you trace the positions you need from my pictures you should be able to do it.

That said great job on getting Toyota to do it for you!

@Yashua916 - thanks so much for your response! yeah, this isn't the Toyota dealer I bought the truck from - but found them on the AMP dealer page. As I mentioned, I love these things and was really bummed if I wasn't going to be able to use them!

Ohh yea you can use them. If I can give you some advice because my driver side decided to only go up a few inches and then stop. When I called the tech support line they said the steps need to be washed periodically and lubed (with dry lube) every 30 days. Make sure to start with that regiment so you wont have any issues with warranty. To be clear they did not deny me but reminded me and gave me a few things to try as it also could be a bad board.

I had them for about a year on my 2018 (the one I took them off of) - never had an issue with them at all.
