Nice setup! Whats in the trailer?

Sure are a lot 2nd/3rd gen owners in here trying to justify why their trucks are better. Especially funny to see 3rd gen folks in here bitching about the power seat not being standard. Just a few short years ago they were yelling about how its not needed and the manual one is fine...

A van like that would be good for work.

It's the option packages where Toyota is pushing it IMO.
I can see both sides obviously, but I really think it is what you use in your truck and value the most. Power seat means nothing to me, but I can't really justify why a 45k vehicle doesn't have it.

I use my rear slider every day, I would miss that. Rear defrost is cool, but useless 6 months of the year for me.

Different strokes and all I guess. But it is bull dual zone climate control went from standard on all v6 tacos, regardless of trim, to a 9k package.

I'm not budging off that or the power rear slider being $4600. Greedy ballwashing bast@rds.

I like the manual seats in my truck. I liked them in my previous 2nd gen TRD OR too. :notsure: In my 4Runner, I set the power seats to a position that mimics my Tacoma, then never touch the buttons again.

I have a security bar in my rear window. Would've been better to have a one-piece rear window with defroster.

You are correct BirdBrain, the window was part of an optional upgrade package. I didn't order the truck (bought it setting on the lot), so I wasn't aware of what was standard and what extras were ordered by the dealer. The upgrade package included a moon roof, 14" display, sliding rear window, and quite a few other driving assist and other options. I have removed the snow plow air dam from the front but beyond that I've been happy with it. It's fun to drive!

In the case of the third gen, the seat was too low initially. This was fixed with the electric seat and ability to height adjust it. There was no lever to manually height adjust it.

^"Too low" according to a portion of drivers. The seat height in 2005-2019 trucks has been fine with me. I prefer the car-like driving position. The only things I would change is more telescopic travel in the steering column and more side bolstering in the seat cushion.

Too low for enough of the customer base to fix it, and make it flexible for all.

I agree on the steering column.

^Manual height adjustment with ratcheting lever would be fine. More electrical stuff near the floor means more gremlins if you swamp your truck on the trail. (Half the trucks in my off road club have taken in water at least once.) There's a MORR video of a Lexus GX whose seat moved all the way forward when it got swamped, and had to be towed simply because the driver could no longer fit.

I think they are complaining about digital and computer stuff, not so much about a seat that's been around since the 1950's.

I have a feeling I'll find a gauge/information setup I can live with and quit looking beyond that without exploring through all of the other options. I don't even have a real speedometer and tachometer. Everything is digital imagery. On the bright side the truck is super fun to drive and handles really well!
