Is it okay to use Dexron-VI automatic transmission fluid for power steering fluid in my 2013 Tacoma? The owners manual says to use Dexraon II or III.

    Thanks

    Roger

You could for they are both hydraulic fluids. But I’d stick to what the manual says.

I believe all dexron numbers are backwards compatible. As in dexron 5 will cover all applications for dexron 1-4 but someone correct me if I’m wrong

Yeah I think your right but I would still try to just stick to what the manufacture recommends.

Dex 3 is recommended, but honestly any red transmission fluid works.

Dextron Mercon is Toyotas house brand, and I've used WS fluid in the system with good results.

Dex 4 will be more than ok.
