Hi all- I have a 2008 2.7L Toyota Tacoma with a little over 100k miles - power steering fluid has never been replaced. Can anyone walk me through the process of replacing the oil?

Should i do a drain and fill or a full on flush? what is the difference?
Can anyone recommend a good brand of fluid to use?

    Thank you!
    Robert

My 08 2.7 was acting up had dead spots. Reading here I did the fluid change by sucking out the resivor and filling with fresh stuff. Valvoline I think. Suck the old stuff out via transfer pump turkey baster big syringe. Fill it up crank the wheels with it running stop to stop 3-4 times.
Rinse and repeat until you feel like it’s clean. I just used the up the new fluid I had bought. Been good ever since. Gotta love how simple these trucks are.

dont wanna run the pump dry, easiest way is to use like a big syringe and suck out as much as you can from the reservoir and fill it with new fluid. if you can jack the front of and turn the wheel left and right multiple times to circulate the oil, if you cant do that just dive around and do it again. this will get rid most of the old oil. if your oil is contaminated with something that shouldn't be in there then u will need a complete flush. other then that, sucking it out and putting in new oil a few times will do it

when your sucking the oil out the car has to be off to avoid running the pump dry, when you fill it back up with the fluid you have to have the truck running or else the power steering pump wont turn over, also makes steering a lot easier.
