First time post here. I am in the process of replacing my power steering rack. When I removed the lines from the rack there were small brass fittings behind the lines as shown in the photo. I am assuming I have to re-use these but I don't see them mentioned in the FSM or any of the posts I have read through about replacing the rack.

Also if I do have to re-use them I assume the dome end faces the line, correct?

    Thanks in advance!

That's called the union seat, you will need them. My diagram shows the done facing onto the rack. I'll see if I can figure how to post my picture.

Save them in case they are missing from the replacement rack. Replacement racks, new or rebuilt, should come with them but you know how that goes.
Additionally rebuilt racks have been known to come with o-rings in the holes and a tag that says "warranty void if o-rings not used". It's BS, use the seats.

Finished the job done. Didn't get any new seats so re-used the old ones. So far doesn't look like anything is leaking. Pretty straight forward job. Hardest part was getting the intermediate shaft off the old rack and on the new one! If I did it over again I would have just bought a replacement

    Thanks guys
