What was wrong with your OEM pump that prompted the replacement? Is the seal kit all that is needed or is it possible for the vane to wear out?

I gotta wonder is the quality just that poor.

Was this a Reman Pump or Brand new.

If it was done in China or Mexico quality could be the reason.

This is very possible, even though you got a "new" one it may be bad too.

It was making tons of noise, and then started not pumping well. Replacing the seals was all it needed. I have no idea if vanes ever wear out.

Any possibility it's the belt tension (100 lbs.)?

I have a buddy with a 2005 Tundra that had to replace his power steering pump 3 times because he bought 2 bad pumps.

They can if you burn the fluid or run it too low. With 35s and a hot summer day I burned up my fluid on a relatively easy trail that had a lot of switchbacks. I did a parking lot fluid change but the damage was already done and the next day the pump called it quits. Fluid came out looking like candy apple red paint.

I've since added an inline filter and PS cooler
