The power steering pump in my 1999 Tacoma recently failed. While searching for a replacement pump, I've found parts with prices that vary from roughly $80-$300. Does the quality of the pump directly effect the steering performance? Basically, would I notice the difference of buying a higher quality pump, opposed to an inexpensive one?

Toyota parts only - you get what you pay for. Search the part on Camelback Toyota parts and then ask your local dealer to match it.

Im also one to stick with toyota parts but due to the extreme price of a new oem pump i went with a napa one and have been pleased by the performance, its just as quiet and has lasted a lil over 2 years at this point pushing around 33 inch tires...again i like genuine toyota but the price for that unit was just too much for my wallet at the time...

Yeah. An OEM one is over $300 isn't it? So I've heard. Haven't actually checked. I know a non OEM is around $125 - $150. Correct?

    The Bed is stock...ish
My pump failed once, I found a used one on here for 40-50$ and it has been great for 3 years.

IMO, used oem parts are better than most part store reman stuff.

Use some common sense when Looking at used parts and you will be fine
