    Why is fluid gushing out of my power steering pump reservoir lid when I crank my truck up it’s a 97 tacoma 2.7 v4

    Stock. EZ pass.Dump pass.Inspection sticker.Convict printed lic.plates.FG cap.
    The screen in bottom of tank is clogged. Use a turkey baster and vacuum hose extension to suck the gunk up off of screen.

    Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
    I took mine off of my 98 when I did my rack on pinion. It was amazing how dirty that screen was in there. I used 2 cans of break cleaner to clean it out. Mine was also doing that because it was so clogged up with crap.

    When was the fluid last changed ?

    Is the pump not making noise??

    It’s not making a wining noise it’s making like some other noise I can’t really describe it

    I found this video to be very helpful for cleaning the PS reservoir and flushing all of the old fluid out of the system.

    There’s no way to clean that filter efficiently w/o removing the reservoir completely. That job is messy, no matter what u do. Use the super tall filter if u try and refill when it’s running. Good luck :itllbuffout:

    You need to make sure that you get a o-ring replaced on the reservoir if you take it off. It's a special size o-ring that you need to get at the dealer. Search on the forum for the part number.

    I tried to reuse that o-ring.......and that didn't work so well......
