I am getting ready to place and order for my new cap for my DCSB. I have the sport model with the built in inverter in the bed. Is getting the Power strip option (three Cigarette style plugs) worth it or advised? I know I have the inverter, but engine has to be running for that to work, thoughts? ideas? Thanks!!

Only you can decide if you need or want a 12V outlet (or three) in the back of your truck.

That being said, a couple of questions you might want to ask:

    1. Will the outlets be wired so that they are always live or will they only be live when something else is switched on (lights, ignition etc.)? Does that matter to you?

    2. Will they be tapping into an existing circuit to supply power to the outlets and will that circuit limit the amount of power that you can draw from the outlets?

I added my own 12V outlet in the bed by running a heavy gauge wire directly from the battery so it's always live. I also added a pigtail for them to hook the cap lights to so I can use the lights when the truck is off. There's always the chance that I could run my battery down by leaving the lights on or leaving something plugged into the outlet but the convenience is worth it to me. Probably most useful if you use your truck for camping.

Wire it yourself...you will do a way better job then the canopy shop. I had to re-do or cover with loom all the wiring they ran to the front on my truck. They just haphazardly string bare wires barely zip tied to anything.
