I know that some people will think this is frivolous, however I am looking to add a switch to the power tailgate lock that I added to my 3rd gen Tacoma. I realize that it will lock with the rest of the doors in the standard install and that should be sufficient, however I would like to be able to lock the tailgate and just leave it locked at times when I have the cab accessible. This thread is not meant as a landing spot to debate the need for a switch, but as a request to anyone that may have inspiration for the correct switch.

The real issue here is that I can't find a Momentary Rocker Switch that seems to fit in with the other switches in the cab as well as be something that makes sense for this. I know Pop 'n Lock has a switch kit, but the up and down arrow generic switch they have is just flat out ugly and not descriptive enough for me (or more likely my significant other that doesn't drive the truck everyday).

Does anyone know of a Momentary Rocker Switch that will fit into the large spaces to the left of the steering wheel that is illuminated similar to the factory switches and is going to be something that makes sense to someone as a "Tailgate Lock" rather than a door lock, power window or generic arrows switch and that will fit into the factory blank spot in the area described above?

I'm attaching some that I've found, but just don't "fit" what I'm looking for.

I already have the rear window switch for the rear window and I know my girlfriend would struggle with two of the same switch. haha.

Simple! PopNLock actually MAKES what you need. I did this when I installed my PopNLock and I did a video to show how it works. I included a part number in the video as well. It works great and I HIGHLY recommend it for those who don't need to have their tailgate constantly locking and unlocking for no reason when they open the doors. Here is the link to the video I made:

OP has already addressed the Pop-n-Lock switch in his original post.

Funny. I got the original PopNLock switch, and while I agree it doesn't have any labels on it, I came up with a simple way to remember it. For those who don't know, the PopNLock switch is basically a simple "rocker switch" where you depress it one way, and it locks/unlocks, and depress the other way, and it does the opposite. Simple. I admit though, that after I had it installed, that I momentarily got confused as to which way was lock and which way was unlock. I then came up with a method; in my case, after the switch was installed, I figured out that depressing the switch at the 'top' of the switch, "unlocked it", and depressing the switch at the bottom, "locked" it. So I then came up with this; "up" or the "top" of the switch, "unlocks", and "lower", or the "bottom" of the switch, "locks" it. "Up=Unlock and Low=Lock". Yes, it works, but I admit that it would look better if it was labeled, although the switch is mounted on the lower part of the left side of the dash, so nobody sees it anyway...

Just a thought… you could have oriented the lock in the top position for “Lock Up.” Whatever works, no wrong way…

Per my OP, I don't want to use that switch. It non descriptive, doesn't match any of the other switches and isn't illuminated. Please disregard that switch as an option in future posts and suggestions. Thought I had been clear on this, but I hope that provides further clarity.

No problem. We all have our preferences, and I just reread your original post and I have to say you did provide a number of options, including the popnlock switch, and I get what you want to do, in that you want to have a now lighted switch that fits into the panel. I wanted that too, but couldn't find one. Then I found the popnlock switch and it works for me. It doesn't work for you. It is all good. It is still a viable option for some people, just not what you were looking for.
