Great thread and thanks to everyone who has contributed info. I'm preparing to do this in the next few weeks and I have one question: do you really need the inline fuse, and would it be only one, or one for each of the two wires?

I've seen a few write-ups on this project and many don't mention a fuse but some do. Just looking to confirm whether I need to plan on adding one or two.

I just installed mine on a 2020 DCSB, ran the wires to the passenger side. My pop n lock I purchased from eTrailer had inline fuses to both wires pre-installed.

Also to save someone the headache. Its prob somewhere but i had conflicting information on the wires colors. Looks like instructions were wrong and colors may have varied on 3rd gen 2017 vs 2020. But finally figured it out.

If you want to unlock your tailgate with passenger (second unlock) its From the actuator GREEN to RED, and BLUE to GREEN.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up building a kit from scratch after researching it for a while. Such a nice upgrade!

I’ll be safe go with OEM any problems just bring it in like it would be a warranty issue.

I installed the OEM lock kit over the weekend. The only problem I had was with the metal wire ties near the muffler. My right hand is injured and I had a hard time putting those on.

I am very happy with it.

I could see that causing a problem. Speedy recovery!
