    Hey All,
I had no idea how to try and search for the answer to this one.

I was finally able to find an on off on switch for my backlit ditch lights.

So the up opposition brings on the backlight,
The middle position shut everything off and the down position brings on the ditch lights, which are actually a combo fog light
It’s a lighted switch but if I tie it in to the Diode Dynamic harness or off the hot wire to the switch it will obviously stay on all the time.
Can some one tell me where I can tie it in so that the switch light only comes on when all the other switches light up.
Honestly it probably would have been good to wire the back light that way but I’m here now so I’ll live with it the way it is. It would give it all a nice factory look if I could get the switch to light up.

Why is it whenever you ask a question on here someone always has to direct you to another post?
Not just simply give you an answer to the question.
Thank you, I will look in to it but honestly it’s literally one wire. I can’t see buying another harness…It’s one splice in the right place to achieve my directive….
I’ve gone down that (and many other) rabbit holes looking for answers.
If you can show me where it is in that thread you posted I’d be really grateful because I did read through a bunch of stuff before I posted this question.
Tons of lighting and wiring info but not THIS specific question and answer.
One wire (the second wire goes to and is already on a good ground). Where is it? Which wire?

If you're left with one wire on the switch for illumination. Could run an add a fuse to the interior fuse box labeled 5A panel.

There are adjacent switches to tap into but not sure which exact wire off the top of my head to tap.

Yes, that’s what I’m looking for the wire off the switch right next to new switch…
I guess I could unplug the factory switch and check for voltage when the lights are on vs off.
Then tap into that wire. The new switch light can’t draw much of anything so I could start with a fractional inline fuse I suppose.

I think the green wire on the cargo switch is what you're looking for. Check before tapping.

So the illumination on that switch will be 2 wires. The positive will go to the green wire of the cargo switch. Then you should have a negative dim wire that will need to go on that cargo switch as well. If you use a chassis ground for illumination negative, then your switch won't dim at all.

I used one of these harnesses and mine is a 2019 though. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...nd-play-switch-illumination-harnesses.697269/

So maybe he can tell you the exact wires/colors he tapped into.

Yes, from what I'm reading he has everything else intact just the backlit wire needing power. So ground and other wiring should be fine. Again, from what I have gathered and I may have misread it if not correct.

Hood Struts, My version Fogs always ON, Map & Overhead Light Mod,
    (s) 2 wires for back lighting WITH the dash. As Shaggy sort of posted, the negative is for the selection part of the switch. It does nothing for the "illumination" side of the switch. There are 3 LED's inside that switch. ON - ON and switch illumination.

Why is it when we post where to look for help, in the correct forum, and not spoon feed you the answer. In the forum where you may get more help, faster, instead of cluttering the main forum, people (like you) all get bristled up over it? I pointed you to the forum of your issue, where experts are there to help. and you did say, you didnt know where to look. I can see you didnt even try my link, by your comments because, it wasnt a link to a post, but, a WHOLE SUB FORUM ON LIGHTING AND WIRING. People there will answer this question but, usually stay out of the main 3rd gen forum messes.

Wow we are doomed as a species, when you cant be bothered to help yourself. I do wish you good luck. Ski

No need to be rude. You did ask for help and you got it from multiple people. Sorry if we want you to do your own research. We are all adults here.

two wires one to your 12v power supply and one on a fuse tap for illumination. I have the same switch and lights for my ditch lights.
