Is it possible to put power windows in a 99 Tacoma? If so, what parts would I need?

I'm sure you can, mine has them. I would think a junk yard truck for parts would be your best bet. I've put some of the aftermarket motors on work trucks in the past and they work pretty good, just looks "aftermarket".

I am sure if you look you can find a thread or two on here from someone doing it.

I don`t recall if the harness for the power windows is installed or not in the non power window vehicles.

Just a matter of finding a donor truck and getting all the goodies.

If I did this I would just swap doors with the power options.

good news, yes it can be done without too much trouble. see here where I did it for mine and saved you all the hard work on figuring out the wiring: http://www.customtacos.com/forum/15-interior-audio-electronics/180674-2004-door-wiring.html

bad news, there is no stock wiring for trucks without power so you have to create your own wiring harness and power supplies for it. but this is all covered in the link above

you will need to find the wiring harness for the drivers door part #82152-04140 and also the passenger side door wiring harness part #82151-04160

I suggest you get all oem Toyota parts from here or somewhere local http://www.car-part.com/index.htm do not use aftermarket stuff unless you have no other choice, they just don't last as long as any used oem stuff you get

hOLY shit, how did I miss this? As you were finishing your project up, I was busy trying to Frankensteining an 01 pre runner dash harness to my non powered 04. Didn't work... :bananadead:

And now its just sat like that since fall, because I didn't want to deal with the headache of removing the harness again again again, and pulling all the pins out of the oem harness that I doctored in. But with this, I think I see a ray of hope, and several $$$ not wasted.:yay:

the only thing I did wrong was I used only one power fed for windows and locks and it works great until...... a passenger is pressing buttons at the same time you do and I found out if locks and windows are used at the same time, it blows the 30 amp fuse. its a very rare situation but it can happen.

I keep meaning to do a write up on it, but I haven't found time to put it all together yet.

I would also just cut off the plug ends on the oem door wiring harnesses and add a set of aftermarket plugs to it rather then try to source the oem dash harness plugs. the only thing you gain by using the oem dash harness plugs is they snap into the holders and in retrospect, its not that much of a benefit to offset the trouble to find them and solder all the wires together.

when I was done, the things that do not work (but I also really don't care about) are:
    - the doors do not "auto" lock when you start the truck
    - doors not "auto" unlock (and refusing to stay locked) with the door open and engine off with keys in ignition

the last one means you "can" lock the keys in the truck if you forget, but I keep a spare key in my wallet anyways.
