Alright guys, looking to do a little bit of maintenance to my truck. My two issues I would like to fix:

    1. My passenger side wont unlock with the key, and I believe it won't unlock if I pull it up either. It also make a loud screech whenever I lock/unlock using the driver side switch. What do I need to replace? I tried doing a search but couldn't find similar issues.

    2. My driver side window, when rolled all the way down, stops and starts going back up. If I don't roll it all the way down, it's fine but when its rolled all the way down, it takes 5 or so minutes before I can fully roll it up. I couldn't find any similar issues on this either. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I was just wondering if your's was a 2000 & Lo & behold... as far as the

key & pass.side thing mine is the same way, you can pull it up but it takes a tug with mine, sounds like maybe somethings dry or maybe bent linkage wise in the door, orrrr how's your battery ?? up to snuff with voltage meaning a little over 12v, these fuckers are funny about power to device/electronics as well if your batt. is a constant -13v-12v they tend to get glitchy

I was thinking something was bent or possibly about to die. The sound only comes from the passenger side, so I don't believe it would be the battery but I'll check that and make sure before I assume otherwise.

Come to think of it, when I use the keyless I hear a little ... I guess you could call it a squeal right after it locks, probably nothing like your hearing tho' & my windows glide pretty smoothly still, yeah, smart money says you have a dry window track, or theres grease but loaded with dirt & crap &/or bent track/rod linkage, ever been in a wreck that you know of ??

Mines loud and makes a different noise for locking and unlocking. Its kind of funny. I've almost got the noise down to where I make it the same time I lock or unlock.

Nope, previous owner said nothing and carfax was clean.

The door lock issue would most likely be the lock actuator (the motor that drives the door lock) common failure issues are erratic operation, and buzz or rattle type noise when trying to activate it. As for the window motor, sounds like a weak/dirt motor, but I don't get the fact that it tries to roll ITSELF up?

I was thinking it would be the lock actuator, but I wanted to make sure first.

Let me try and explain it better. When the window is rolled all the way down it gets stuck. I can pull the switch to make it go up but it'll only roll a few inches. Then I have to wait 15 seconds or so or it doesn't move. After I wait, it'll move a couple more inches. It'll keep doing that, but everytime it moves it moves a little far. It moves exponentially. I don't know how else to describe it.

Would you like me to take a vid?

Hey, vids & audio are king .... & almost sounds like a tired motor for the window, or because moisture gets in there also could be significan't corrosion/bad/shorting connections..

I agree. That sounds like a motor that is getting worn out. There is a thermal overload protection built in to the motor. If the motor gets hot at all, it shuts down. And in some cases it takes half a second to get hot with a worn motor.

Driver door motor replacement for my window right? Would rockauto carry those? Should I do both sides?

Depending on how much they are (most likely big $$$) I wouldn't rule out a wrecking yard for motor...
