I have the lockright posi or autolocker and it is great 100% traction and I've been to gorman and dovesprings and ransburg and its awsome because I've been to those area before with the open diff and couldn't do much but now its fun as hell and the only bad thing I heard was that the little springs in the locker wear out and that the locker stays locked and doesn't disengage when turning but you get wat you pay for

    thread revival...

i want either a noslip or lockright. Correct me if im wrong but they are the same except the noslip has springs to cushion and make it quieter??? if so wouldnt the lockright be tougher, more reliable(less moving parts). i can handle clunking but i want to know which will give the best traction off road. if sreet manners are similar but its an issue of noise only ill save $100 and go lockright

yes, the no slips have the springs inside to make the road manners better, strength should be the same, because the rest of the inner working are very much the same as the lockrite. i've wheeled my no-slip for years and put on lots of miles, and never had a problem. I would definitely buy another one.

    I did some further research

is it worth the extra $100? ive read the lockright is stronger and locks easier.

they both have srpings but the no-slip's are stiffer making it a little tougher to engage. that makes the street manners a little nicer because its a bit tougher to lock. but how is the noslip offroad?

they both work great offroad from what i hear but the lockright is a bit easier to engage and are slightly tougher giving it a slight advantage offroad.

that statement doesn't make any sense. these lockers are normally 'engaged', they 'dis-engage' when you are cornering...which is where the no-slip is smoother. toughness...i can't comment because i haven't run a lockrite, but if the only difference is springs...how can it be weaker.

i can't say how your money is best spent, it depends on whether $100 is worth it for the smoother locker on the street.

i like my no-slip and it's been driven hard both on the street and off road and it's been a champ.

As long as your under acceleration, the no-slip is locked. Whether you are in a corner or not. Period.

if there is no strain on the diff they are not locked. the outside unlock around a corner because there is no strain on the mechanism. with stiffer springs it takes a bit more strain to lock the outside axle thus more street-ability for the no slip.

not entirely true. you must put enough strain on the center pin to push the center "driver" to the "Coupler" to engage the locker gears. there is a spring between the coupler and driver that pushes them apart to allow the gears to over run when there is less strain. if the springs are stiffer it takes more force to engage the gears. the no-slip can turn tighter and take more acceleration around corners than a lockright before locking. My main concern is if this causes any issues offroad.

^^^i've had this question floating in my head for a while....

say if your stuck in the mud, you don't want to give it too much gas right? casue you'll dig yourself a deeper hole right?

so if you feather the pedal lightly only, is that enough to lock up the lockers?????

it should, but my fear is if there is extra strain from it taking a bit more to lock... like any play causing abrupt locking on rocks. i could be wrong... but generally "{more street friendly" = not as trail worthy...

Look.I have used the powertrax no slip for a few months now. I installed it myself. It comes with 4 small yellow springs (short) and 2 or 4 white springs. These springs are very weak and don't even require compression when there installed. I have wheeled it hard in dirt, rocks, river sand, gulches, offset, hills, asphalt, concrete, gravel, whatever.
under ANY acceleration whether strait or in a corner. Wet, dry or otherwise. Your wheels are locked.
I don't know about other lockers all I know is the way the powertrax no slip works.

How does the powertrax or lockrite effect all of the new electronic traction controls in the 09+? VSC and all that.

shouldnt effect it. that system works with wheel spin so it wont have issues since your locked. if the front is locked it might stop abs from working.

I noticed the OP has a 2008. Is the Powertrax even available for an '05+? I looked on their site and didn't see any applications beyond the 2000.

not true... i just have no experience with either. from matics post it sounds like the noslip works great offroad and ive read that however, not transparent the noslip is more street friendly than the lockright

excuse me for wondering and asking others experiences....
