I wouldn't be scared of breaking it off road. If the extra cash is worth it for a smoother locker on the street, go no-slip. If you would rather save cash, then go lockrite.

You can't go wrong with either one if you ask me.

Correct me if im wrong please...

    Powertrax No Slip is ~$400

    ARB + Compressor is ~$800 + ~$200

Is that right? Is all you need there or do you need anything extra with either?

Auburn locker is a good one too becuase its limited slip and you can make it fully locked for about 700 and if your gunna locker why not just save up the extra money to get a better locker

auburn doesn't make the ECTED locker for toyotas. and just because a locker is selectable, it doesn't mean it's any better

PLUS! The ARB has to be installed by a shop, because you need to set clearances on the gears, which requires special tools... So that's another 4200-$400 for install. Powertrax no-slip can be installed with simple hand tools in your driveway...

man you have really sold me on these lockers. I only have one queston. If you are accelerating around a corner on dry pavement is it smooth or do you get tire chirping? thanks

The only time I have ever experienced any "chirping" is when I lowered my psi in the rear to go wheeling and had to drive on some pavement for a few miles to air back up at a station. Otherwise, you hear the tires "gripping" while cornering but no chirping.

Btw. I took the Tacoma up to Uhwarrie 2 weeks ago for some wheeling with several other guys. It was the first time I had it out on something other than a firetrail or gulches/ravines. The powertrax performed flawless. Traction was great till it started sleeting and the rocks and red clay became pretty slick. I was running 285/75' bfg at ko's. Not sure if some mt's might have helped but the powertrax did it's job where an open diff or lsd would have failed miserably. The locked prerunner hung in there with the 10 or so other 4x4's and I only took a strap twice on the intermediate trail up dickie bell.
Had it been dry, I think the runner would have no problem. I was very, very pleased with the ability of the powertrax no slip.

Gripping, like wearing out the tires or almost cant even tell? how would you rate the streetdriving of your truck compared to stock and with the locker? and have you ever been on snow or ice.. thanks again for the info!

No. Just slight gripping on the inside tire that naturally cant spin as fast as the outside.
Snow/ice? I'll let you know next friday if I cant find a flight and have to drive to indiana on Christmas eve.

I have also heard they're sketchy on snow... Just remember when the outside wheel grabs instead of the inside one spinning 1000 mph when you goose it in a corner to kick it out a little (like you've always done) You're going around. End of story. Hopefully there isn't a tree in the guys front yard

That being said, I am still considering one in the future for my truck. I would really just like to try a truck out in a snowy parking lot just to see how they behave... but I doubt a guy is gonna let some random kid do donuts in his truck...
