Ok I've read through the stickys and a bunch of posts so now I am looking for suggestions. This month or next I will be purchasing a 2013 Tacoma double cab standard bed auto TRD Off Road. I would like somewhere between 1.5" to 2.5" of lift, nothing extreme but up from stock. My previous rigs have been a Jeep CJ5, Dodge Dakota, Ford F150 and lastly a Suburban with 6" lift and I am tired of the tall lifts and tires so I want something a bit more ....... practical! Hence, I am finally giving in and purchasing a Toyota. I won't be adding any aftermarket bumpers or winch but will carry a good load of camping gear in the bed. Also, will be adding some Duratracs.

This will be my first Tacoma, so what do you guys recommend?

Welcome to TW. As I'm sure you have read, the options seem endless. I myself have the DuraTrac 265/75 R16s which give you a little extra height over stock. This fall I am going to be purchasing the Old Man Emu(OME) setup with 886's(because bumper w/winch) and a Dakar leaf pack(factory leaf packs suck on these trucks) in hopes of getting close to 3". I also already bought some LR UCA's so as to not fight alignment issues. By the time I put my topper on and put all my camping gear in the bed she rides like a Caddy full of Texans as my dad used to say. Eventually I'd like to get a hitch mount motorcycle carrier for both my dirt bikes, so having that additional weight that far back definately warrants a heavy duty leaf pack.

How does this sound? Say I go with 5100 1.75 with stock coils in the front. What brand aal and height in the rear would you recommend to keep a slight rake? Would rear shocks then have to be longer or stay stock length?

you wanna keep a slight rake in the back?? 1.5 aal in the rear and you may have to go with another shock in the rear but not sure.

I ran 5100s at the 1.75 setting with stock coils for a little while with the wheelers 3 leaf aal in the back. Was a great combo and pretty inexpensive. I've got 265/75/16 E rated Duratracs on Konig Countersteers and really like them. They have taken some really big abuse on the rocky trails around here and held up well. See my build thread if you want pictures of stuff.

K9Cop hit the nail on the head.

Spacers work if you go on easy trails slow.
Get what you are comfortable spending.
Just remember if youtube has taught us anything coil overs do not turn your pickup into a class 1 racer. Much to the dismay of many Raptor owners

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
This. If you must then swap or find some TRD Sport springs which are non progressive rated springs if you want to preload them with the 5100's. At 1.75" front and 1.5" AAL you will get your rake still that you asked.
