Yes but it took 2 visits. First time they really didn't do much to find it. That was on my complaint list to Corporate. Bottom line is they finally replaced the felt and eliminated the smear.

After a couple of days with the new flash, I definitely like my truck more. No more surging and doesn't do that rapid 3rd gear whoops you wanted 4th gear didn't you lame shift and start loafing when I'm not on it. Plus, turned left across traffic and stepped on it a bit, truck didn't fall on it's face. Worth the trip to the shop for sure.

I was really skeptical at first, I am no expert and honestly I am not sure exactly what was done. To me I figured it was kind of like a software update. If I was to describe the truck after the flash, it feels like ECT is on all the time now. I am watching my MPG to see if I get better. Was averaging 17.5 around town. Your description was what I was thinking.

TSB.jpg Went to Mountain States Toyota in Denver, CO today. They flashed TSB 0058-18 and said 0062-18 wont apply because its only for WOT issues which I do not have. I am not sure why they dont flash it anyway, but I will report back once I drive around some more with TSB 0058-18. I hope it is an improvement.

Funny how another dealership told my there "were no updates, my truck has them all" about 2 weeks ago...

Every stealership has different people working. My service guy was really cool and the place I go is friendly. Tell them "I bought my XX,XXX dollar truck here and expect you guys to service it at my request. This is covered by Toyota warranty and I want it done regardless of your opinion."

Be firm with these assholes, you are the customer and every stealership should go by the motto "the customer is always right".

Yeah, when I go in for 5000mile service next time, I will be more firm with 0062-18. I only have 1200 miles on the truck, so they said the ECU is still "learning" which could have an affect on the transmission. Once I hit 5000 miles, they cant use that excuse anymore.

That's a garbage excuse anyways. The ECU is constantly monitoring hundreds of inputs and adapting many transmission and engine variables. The ECU never stops this process. Its not as if the ECU will "learn" for a set period of time and then stop, it will continue for the life of the vehicle.

And I have over 5000 on my 18 and it still hasn’t learned to behave right, lol. I’ve got an appointment Monday to have them look at it. Service tech didn’t sound encouraging. Started off singing same ole song “As designed”.

Good luck everyone! After my 0058 update. Truck still feels the same.

Did they put he sticker under your hood? Apparently that is required to activate it.

I also heard the new Camry has the same issue. Probably worse! That car is a 8 speed transmission. Imagine that. Lol

Had the 0058-18 Tsb done today. (Supposedly). Truck unfortunately feels the same on the drive back home from the dealership. Sucks cause I was excited to know what all the fuss was about.
Dropped the truck off at 9:00am and didn’t get a call back til about 3:30pm. They gave me the run around and told me they tried to replicate the bad shifting/surge and could not. I told them I drive up to the Austin hill country a lot and that’s when it gives me the most problems. They agreed to look at it again. And after a hour they gave me a call back saying they applied the tsb update.
Wondering if they actually applied the update or not. (No sticker under hood like some of the other guys)

I initially didn't feel much of a difference. Drive it around a bit longer, and take it on the freeway. That's where I've noticed the biggest difference. I literally don't have to use ETC every single time I approach any sort up hill. Can power through it at under 2000 RPM and hold speed at 65-70. And if you do have to apply a bit more pressure to the pedal, it doesn't jump dramatically to like 4000 RPM to build speed back up.

Edit: Just checked, and I DO have a sticker under the hood. Says that TSB 62 was applied...

Got mine done today. Shit is the shit. It works. Put 70 miles on it and notice better throttle response, actually uses 5th gear and can maintain and accelerate without dumping 2 gears. Hope it holds up, but for the price ($0), I’m stoked.

Also, no sticker under the hood.

Had the 0058 update done at my 5000 service after returning from a trip out west (Wyoming)
After 800+ miles with the update I will say it is an improvement, shifting is much smoother around town on the hiway and uphill.

When you get the TSB, does it reset the "learning" also? Or do you need to unhook the battery for 20 minutes after getting the TSB if you want to reset the learning, as well?

Just had the TSB 0062-18 update on my '18 TRD OR this afternoon. Not a single hassle... didn't even raise an eyebrow. The tech made a specific point to tell me that the "learning" calibration is reset to 0 after this update and that the truck will definitely drive completely different "so don't freak out and bring it back like other people have done..." lol I told him I HOPED it drove completely different.
I felt the difference before I was even out of their parking lot. The drive home was like night and day. Smooth shifting, no bogging down, or hunting for gears. They had me in and out in about 1/2 hour.
