Mine went away when I got the leaf spring silencer TSB done. I chocked it up to harmonic frequencies and what not. Others have needed the body mount or rear differential TSBs to solve the issue. But 58 and 62 should have no relationship to the howling. I can't believe that the 18s are still having the issue.

Thanks for the info. So with the leaf spring silencer, what's involved with installation? Is it just a simple add-on? And you didnt have to have the interior back walls removed to install sound deadener material?

Here are the other possible howling TSBs. I didn't want to have anyone ripping out my rear interior, so I went with the leaf spring TSB first. Luckily that solved the problem, which involves simply placing pads between the springs.

Toyota Customer Experience Center 1-800-331-4331...not SET (Southeast Toyota Region). This is not a recall, it's a T-SB (Toyota Service Bulletin).

Your dealership was correct, there is no recall for the new calibration.

My reiept showed the same thing 77-16, but when I checked with a OBDII meter it showed the new calibration.

so, I have put about 800 miles on my truck since they did the TSB and it is still way better than it was when I took delivery. heading to the mountains next week for some mountain bike racing so hopefully it will do what it is supposed to. but so far so good.

Mine took about another 600-800 miles after the TSB to stop shifting the old way and hunting for gears all the damn time...:amen:

Finally got to take mine into the mountains for the first time since I had the TSB done... Worlds better now! Only thing I noticed was that it would seem to get “stuck” in a gear and never shift out when cruise control was on. But I’m 100% fine with that compared to the rapid fire gear changes I used to have on the same inclines.

Does the TSB address the chug-a-lug misfire feeling around 45mph, in addition to the "surge" thing?

Mine did not..shifting is good but still have miss fire at 40-60 cruising . Now trying gas with no ethanol to see if that helps.

So I got TSB 62-18 a couple weeks ago. Initially I was excited, seemed to feel different out of the lot. Driving around town and to work seemed better as well. This weekend I made a 120 mile trip east and then 120 back. Decent mileage 19 ish doing 75mph. But i noticed all the quirks again. Holding on to a gear long after i've peaked the crest of the hill before shifting, etc. After this weekend, not sure about it now.....
