Got the exact results.. I'm on 285's lifted 2016. Soon as I left the dealership I noticed it. drive and has power like the gen 2 now. Not gear finding on hills and the motor feels more torque on the low end and no hesitation now off the line. So so happy! Fricken stoked. So glad I didn;t dump more money for OVtune or a turbo charger. I do live at 7500' elavation. But did have the hestitation so complained about this and they could recreate the problem and not the gear finding and they did it for me.

This is what bothers me the most... a very, very slight incline will cause it to shift to 4th, which gives me power to pull, but kills mileage. When in the mountains (up and down) I get 14-15 mpg...

On flat freeways I get 18-20 mpg combined but I drive at 72 mph in 6th.

CC and S6 on my 210 round mile trip today was perfect. First time I can ever say that in 32K miles of trying. It was amazing.

30,000 miles and just updated. Changed my life and my truck completely.

I consistently make round trips into the mountains totalling several hundred miles per week from 6k-10k feet elevation and it never felt like It could hold gear on the highway without using the S mode to prevent erratic shifting.. Finally, the transmission now shifts properly and is overall smoother, including its acceleration.

I’ve always liked the truck but I now I love it! Thankful like so many others for all the info out there to help make this update an easy process at the dealership.

They get paid. But they're probably making very little profit. Their time could be better spent elsewhere. Especially when they're busy.

Freeman just declined to do mine as well. Said this want available for the 2018's yet and it may mess up my ecu if I got it done. I'll have to call Hansel.

Had this TSB applied yesterday afternoon and so far the truck drives MUCH better. Very happy with the update, and now it drives as it I think it should.

The details for those interested: 2018 SR5, Texas plant, birthdate 08/18, purchased 9/3/18. I had noticed the issue early on and monitored the threads here for feedback. I scheduled my 5000 mile maintenance online via my dealers service dept website. I added an "engine concern" note describing the issue (using language in the TSB)... Then at the end I actually wrote "Please apply TSB-0062-18." (I also had an annoying ticking sound coming from the passenger side dashboard). After a few hours at the dealer - they called and said the truck was ready. They applied the TSB (no questions asked) and they fixed something with the speaker that was rubbing against something on/near the A-pillar - so the annoying sounds is gone. I loved my truck before, but now I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVE MY TRUCK.

Edit to add: I do believe they test drove it to confirm. But yes, happy they did it without any push back or me having to argue with them.

Some observations after about a thousand miles. After doing the TSB, it was night and day difference. There was one hill going home where it would constantly hunt for gears between lugging the engine, then roaring when it downshifted. The TSB fixed this. I dont know if I am getting used to the TSB and nitpicking, but now it seems like it still hunts for gears. Not as bad as before, but its not perfect. The hill by my house, it still is perfect, holds gear and rpms over 2k. Now one complaint I have always had is the stock tune pings a lot. I was shocked an OEM tune could ping at all and be allowed to be sold. It is most noticeable right before a shift, when the engine is getting lugged at super low rpm, and right before the downshift. You can hear the telltale rattle. I decided to try a tank of 91 octane, and it drives noticeably better with no pinging that I can tell. It has also smoothed out the powerband and gotten rid of slight hesitation at low rpms. Between the 91 octane and TSB, I am actually fairly happy with the truck now. There are still instances where it shifts too soon, and has to downshift. But all in all, it is much better. I think for now, instead of the OVtune, i will just run 91 octane and hope for a future TSB. This engine was not designed for 87 octane and it shows. Sad that Toyota could not get this tune right. In fact they completely dropped the ball on this.

Mine ran good in D on the way home from the dealer. Gradually deteriorated. Ran great after TSB 0058-18. Again, deteriorated after "learning". Solution: just run in ECT PWR all the time. It runs very normal like a midsize truck/SUV with this size V6 should. Shifts and holds gears very much like my wife's 3.5L Pilot, nothing abnormal. "D" mode is more of an economy mode but only seems to be viable on very flat terrain. I just got back from a trip to Lake Placid, NY from North NJ. Mostly highway @ 70mph and 30 miles of mountain backroads. Lots of elevation changes. Truck ran fine and averaged 21.3 mpg.

No, I'm kind of on the fence about getting it done now. I just turned over 7k so my driving has adjusted and have gotten more familiar with how this Tacoma behaves. +I've been super busy too so It's on the back burner now for the time being.
I'm really enjoying this truck though. Could only be happier with a few upgrades here and there

I did go to Hansel for my 10k service today and they also flashed the TSB without any pushback at all. Was nice driving back to Lake County after the flash too. Way better!

I have had a hell of a time getting this TSB done on my 2018 off-road. My dealership will NOT do the TSB.

I call Toyota corporate, and explained my frustration with the dealership. By the end of the call, I got no where. If the dealership can not recreate the issue, they won’t update it.

I have driven the truck for 7800mi, it has the issue. I explained to them, the dealership might not be able to create it during a 2 minute test drive. Hell, I don’t know. It was a total argument. All I’m asking for is a 30sec update to the computer.

I do like the truck. Love it actually. I just want this tranny fixed. Soooooo damn annoying.
