    Hey TW'ers,

My buddy just recently, within the past week, made his first canine purchase.
It is by far the most adorable German Shepherd, his name is Dodge.

Unfortunately, the day after my buddy brought the pup home the dog appeared to be sick. He wouldn't eat food, he would just drink water. We chalked it up to being stress from the move. During the following days the pup continued to not eat but now started to lose his playfulness. He also started to sleep a lot. This is when my buddy decided to take him to the vet.

We were praying it was just worms and could be fixed with some shots and a little time. Unfortunately, we were wrong again Dodge just got diagnosed with Parvo. :(

The vet has given him a 50/50 chance of getting through it.

My buddy paid an extremely large amount for Dodge from a pet store. He decided to talk to them about coughing up some payment for the treatment. However, they said they are not going to give him money for treatment. They will only reimburse what he paid for the pup if he doesn't make it.

After a suggestion from Facebook, he decided to set up a donation fund online.
    https://www.giveforward.com/fundrai..._overview_T1&og_action=hug&t=3&fb_ref=1801442

If anyone decides to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. If not Prayers are what we are asking for the most.

    Thanks TW

Sounds like to me that they didn't give him all his proper shots to have got parvo

Prayers sent. Unfortunately pet stores are the last place you want to buy puppies since most of them get their dogs from puppy mills which are places that just breed for profit and I've heard a lot of negative things about those places.

    Thanks for the prayers everyone…

This has definitely made me more skeptical of pet stores :(

Parvo is a bitch, I had a Shorthair cheat death from it years ago.
Hope the little guy pulls through, he will certainly grow up to be better than 99% of all humans.

Best of luck to the pup. He (obviously) didn't do anything to deserve this.

But yeah, as has been said...NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store. EVER.

I have two GSD pups of my own (one is 2 years old, the other 7 months). I am sure your buddy is having a very tough time with this. I couldn't imagine losing one of my dogs.

How much is the treatment? I will definitely donate. Please keep us updated.

My labrabull is a parvo survivor. If you catch it in time you can beat it.

Sending out positive vibes for the furry little guy!

It's definitely good to hear about all the survivors of parvo. Thanks everyone!!

This being his first dog, it's definitely a tough time for him. I'm afraid if the poor guy doesn't make it, my buddy may not get another.

So far his vet bills are up to 1000 but I'm not sure what it's gonna end at.

Any vet bill will be worth his survival.

I just started volunteering at an adoption center, both cats and dogs. They have managed to have 67 animals adopted since last thursday. Yes, one week. As far as health of the animals there, they take it VERY serious. They have their own veterinary clinic, and they do not let a single animal get adopted and leave without being fixed and having every single shot. I mainly work with the dogs there, walking and training and feeding and such, and I love it so far. I can't believe a pet store would let an animal be adopted without all of its shots.

    Thanks for the support everyone

    :(

This morning he didn't want to move at all. Apparently his white blood cell count was so low that he couldnt fight the virus anymore. They decided to put him down :(

Thanks for all the support through this my buddy really appreciates it.
