I feel for you Josh, to me it was the most difficult thing in the world to deal with not knowing what was wrong with our youngest daughter. I can't tell you the amount of testing and trips to the doctors we had to endure all to find absolutely nothing.

All I can say is stay persistent and do what’s necessary to ensure the problem gets resolved. I think in general we rely so much on the doctors to point to the problem, but in our case the doctors (we went through a bunch and almost every specialist you can think of) weren't able to point to anything at all. It was our persistence (more my completely awesome wife) and continued effort towards resolution that paid off.

You got my prayers without a doubt, stay strong and keep positive. Should you need to vent, do so and get it out of your system to help maintain a positive attitude.

I know what you're going through, and it sucks not to know what's wrong. My son had something similar, stopped breathing and passed out, turned out he has some kind of seizures. He hated the EEG, two hours of screaming and trying to get those leads off. We've had three EEGs, no answers. The good news is our neurologist has him on some medication that has totally stopped his seizures. Also she says some of the best outcomes are with the kids that they could never diagnose what exactly is wrong.
Good luck with your daughter, my family is hoping for the best outcome for you!

As of right now, the EEG is the first step. When we go back in September, I'm sure other options will be discussed.

A quick update. Been a very uneventful week. However, there is a new suggestion going around. After talking to her daycare teacher, there is some talk about possibly having an iron deficiency. We are in talks with her pediatrician about doing some blood work. She is showing a lot of signs. My wife has the same issues.

TacoOffroad11. I saw this a lot in Clinical.
Hypoferremia is one of the most if not the most common of the nutritional deficiencies. Iron, being a carrier of oxygen to the tissues coming from perfusion of the lungs, in the form of hemoglobin, can interfere with vital functions of the body if one is deficient in Iron. SP02(Pulse Ox) results should be 93%-100% in healthy humans. Pre-menopausal women and children are the groups most prone to this insufficiency/disease, can lead to iron-deficiency Anemia.

There are supplements, but it really depends on your childs condition. As you know, meats, lamb, mussels, soy-beans, spinach, pork-liver, and lentils are a great source of Iron.

Please keep us posted. I hope she feels better and gains some energy, complexion, and strength!!

The original thinking was seizures. I know that this is still a possibility but seizures are not found on any side of the family but I also know that is not always the case. My wife has an iron deficiency and she knows what to do when she gets that feeling. However, a two year old isn't real sure whats going on. My daughters daycare teacher has said the last several days that she has wanted to go take a nap before its time and will often go lay down on her pad with her blanket through out the day and want to go night night. She had done that to us a few times but we never really thought about it too much. Just thought it was her being tired from playing. But who knows.

Thanks again for all the prayers and support! TW rocks!!!

Once again I send my prayers. I have Empathy for you, as I have seen what parents go through when their children are sick and keep coming back. I will check in this thread periodically. Good luck.

The iron deficiency makes sense. My wife suffered from this but it was for a reason that won't be your daughter's problem. She was have such heavy periods that her body couldn't recover and make enough blood in between them... She ended up having the cradle removed but they left me the "playpen" :D

I hope they determine the cause, whatever it is, and treat her so this doesn't happen any more. Prayers for a good outcome!

Hey bro, sorry your daughter is going through all this! Everything you're going through, we went through in the last three years. After my son started having "spells" at 18 months, till we got some relief around his third birthday.
One of the first thoughts was iron deficiency, he was low on iron, so we started getting iron in him, wasn't low iron, he was having some type of seizure.
I don't want to go into the whole story, but 18 hellish months later we found a drug that stopped all seizures. My son has been seizure free for a little over a year.
We've seen all the specialists, heart, lung, blood, and of course brain. I don't want to put my sons complete story on here, but I'm more than happy to talk to you about what your going through, if you'd like to. Just PM me if you'd like. If not, no sweat. Good luck, my family is thinking positive thoughts for your family.

I'm sorry guys. I really wanted to try to keep you all updated everyday but there's been nothing to update. Lilly has had no other issues since her last one. The only thing we have noticed is she is eating.....A lot. Not junk food or anything but she is snacking like crazy. :notsure:

Update! Went back to Cincinnati Childrens Hospital today for her follow up with the neurologist. All the tests that they ran came back normal. Her EEG was clear. The doctor has ruled out seizures just because, according to him, there is no evidence that she has ever had one. We are to keep an extra out and if anything changes, he will run another EEG. As for the passing out. He said the most likely scenario is that when she got so upset, she just lost her breath. This is fairly common and there is no danger in them. As for the last fainting issue, that is still a mystery but her new pediatrician wasnt ready to say she actually passed out. His feeling is that she got so comfortable and relaxed that she actually fell asleep. Again, it's all a guessing game right now. We are going to have some blood work done in a few weeks to test an iron deficiency and some other things.

Thank you TW for all the thoughts, well wishes and prayers. They could definitely be felt.
Ill post on here when an update comes up!
