You're right, it was the Pro grille that needed cutting to get the window out to make room for the garnish. My mistake, fixed.

Serious question...have you returned everything to stock to see if the problem remains? Troubleshooting 101 is to remove the variables to isolate the issue...

I get what you're saying, but my 'messing with the sensors' didn't show up for 5 months, so I doubt that is the cause.

If I do end up at the dealer I'm going to swap grilles back first.

haha...exactly what I'm thinking. I work in IT and that is the rule we always follow. I'm just fishing first to see if anyone has another answer.

SR grille is still non-stock though.

It puts the sensor exactly where yours was (I believe). And most likely, they won't even notice it. But you are right, it's not "stock."

I'll keep this updated because I'm sure I won't be the last with these issues.

Last night I started with the easiest and unplugged all the connections, checked for moisture and bent pins, then reconnected. No change. Moved on to disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. No change.
Tonight I reinstalled the factory grille (after painting the surround bezel black). No change.
Took it for a short 1 mile drive. No change.
I'll give it another day or so, then I'll have to take it in to Toyota.

And for the record, taking a pro grille out is a hell of a lot harder than putting one in. Unclip two clips, one pops back in...repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, swear, repeat, take your shirt off, repeat, etc, etc....:annoyed:

You can order it from the dealer, or you could for 17.

    I saw a 18 RAV 4 that struck a deer today, TSS didn't prevent a damn thing.

I'm still waiting to see what TSS really will prevent.

I think Toyota North America, has more authority than the Universe, when it comes to Genuine Toyota/Lexus parts & accessories.

I'm eating a cookie right now. Walnut and coconut something or another.

I just noticed that this RAV 4 with its destroyed, but still intacted windshield, crumpled driver side fender, and wrinkled hood. Happened to notice a TSS emblem in the grill. The strike looked like it was offset to the driver side of the vehicle. The driver was probably cruising 40 to 50 MPH. I would imagine that the TSS sent out an alert, if that's what it does, so the TSS probably did it's job as designed.

As a vehicle consumer, I take a vast interest on components that are standard equipment on vehicles. Especially if I do not personally believe that those systems are necessary.

If TSS is not preventing accidents, this information should be noted. With the attempt to determine if TSS, which cost the consumer additional money, is needed or not.

One day, I'd like to purchase a new Tacoma, at what should be a reasonable price for a new Tacoma.

So, the saga continues, and gets...worse I guess. I brought it to the dealer and they are quite sure it is the ABS module. The bad news is that the part is on national backorder and I'm 4th in line. The are hinting at an extended wait, without really saying how long that might be. I'm guessing that if I have the Tacoma back in 2 months I'll be lucky.

The 'good' news is, before I even brought it in I let them know I expected a free loaner. They tried to tell me I'd have to rent one, at $40 per day. lololol...that's not happening when I'm already paying a hefty monthly payment on a less than 6 month old truck that I can't drive. So, I'm driving a free rental Highlander for now. *sigh*

I'm just hoping the diagnosis is correct after all this.

Same issue but I haven’t touched the grill. It kicked on at 200 miles. I’ll bring it in when I get some time off work 9F713D9B-B1CF-44CD-879D-0F5E76004DE3.jpg
