    What is the sensors purpose?

Yep, that's the message...one of the 3 anyway. They told me I could drive it if I want while I wait for the backordered part, but with both an ABS and regular brake message on the dash, I didn't want to risk an unrelated accident and have that 'evidence' that I was driving with the knowledge of brake issues.

Yea don’t blame you. I’ve been driving with it, it’s just annoying that I can’t see all my info on the display. I don’t even want these sensors, planned on keeping everything off anyway!

Nothing to do with the grille, I'm positive. It wouldn't take 5 months to show up if it was.

Has anyone had a malfunction, idoit light , message on center dash, SEE DEALER. This is a stock grill,no mods. Cleaned the bugs off , same symptoms. Can this be reset by owner, or dealer only.

Again, nothing to do with the grille.

But, this guy here also has the symptoms with no mods. There is probably a way to reset the light, but that is most likely a temporary fix, as the root cause of the light coming on isn't going to go away since you already attempted cleaning the glass.

Good thread by OP as it appears there may be an issue with some of our Tacoma's out there and the ABS module...

For the TSS naysayers (I came from a Tundra that had an ashtray and cassette deck). So just yesterday I was following another 2018 Tacoma OR (Cement) and this dumb ass pulls out in front of him, then later stops dead and takes a right hand turn, the BRAKE alert flashed with my brakes pre charged which stopped the truck with a slight press on the brake pedal...it works.

I’ve experienced the same problem twice. But my engine dies too. Both times in the rain. Next time it’s raining I’m going to shut the TSS off to see if it helps.

Just got my Tacoma and joined the forum. Literally the day I had my truck lifted, I got precollision malfunction, but it also comes with VSC light, and cruise control will not turn on. It drives fine, no issues. 175 miles on the odometer. 4x4 shop says they’ve never seen it. Headed to dealer on Tuesday. Like guy with grille, they are going to blame the lift. Something else is going on obviously. Will update what I hear back on Tuesday.

    Congrats on that.

Hopefully that's NOT the problem with mine. I'm in my 2nd week of waiting for the ABS module to arrive from backorder. They say it will be in on Wednesday...we'll see.

Glad we have at least one solved case. I DO hope mine is that easy. Especially since it’s similar mileage.

TSS can't prevent all accidents, but it may lessen the results of one. It's impossible to say if the results you saw were better or worse than a vehicle without the TSS had been involved, but i'd bet money that the system helped simply because it will start braking quicker than a human can. My Tacoma is a 17 so no TSS, but my wifes 17 RAV has it and it has been fine.

Dealership resolved my issue within an hour. Said the steering sensor needed to be recalibrated. Drove about 50 miles this morning and the problem hasn’t returned yet. Sounds like my issue was from the lift/alignment. Alignment shop should have done the recal themselves. Toyota charged $150 with tax and everything. Glad to have it resolved but will be fighting with the 4x4 shop to reimburse me. I feel like they should have had it taken care of in house as part of the service. Will see.

I asked and dealership said the codes give them an idea what the issue is. My issue, the OP’s issue and even JRN001’s issue all had the same symptoms/same lights because of the way the fuses tie together with entirely different solutions.

Picked it up today, 2 weeks after dropping it off. The lights are all off now. The paperwork says they replaced 3 parts, the ABS control module, a right side solenoid, and something else. Whatever, it was free. They said there was a short inside of the control module that started the issue.

I noticed right away though that the brake pedal buzzes now, nearly every time I press it. I went back in and the tech test drove it and said it is the brake actuator recharging and that it is normal. I told him I've never felt it in 3000 miles before this and now it's doing it every time? He said he didn't know why I never felt it, but it is normal. If it gets worse come back and they'll try bleeding the brakes more in case there is an air bubble trapped in the master cylinder.

First thing I did when I got home was search this site and it seems a lot of people have felt this and apparently it is normal. Not impossible I am just hyper attentive now after this episode. Anyway, it drives and brakes fine, and I'm happy to have my boy back! Yes, my 'boy'. Every time I see the truck my mind says "There's my boy!". Sorry to all you suckers that got a girl truck.

I have an ‘18 4x4OR DCSB today was its 4th time at the dealer for PCS malfunction. Dealer said parts were already replaced on my 3rd visit and theyre not going to replace any more for now. Water seems to get in the sensor. They want me to bring back the truck on Tuesday as they’ll have a Toyota Engineer come in to look at the problem. I love thr truck other than this annoying issue i have to other complaints. Anybody else with this issue?

Mine has stalled 4 times now and only in the rain. The dealer showed no codes and tried to blame it on my Shift Sense Pro. They’re making these trucks so complicated they can’t figure out why they fail.
