Pre -collision system

The PCS in the newer Toyotas has been calibrated different than older models to have a more reliable warning/braking. It will not alert due to cardboard boxes, shopping carts, etc. You have to use another vehicle if you want to test.

Sounds dumb, but its better at not giving a false alert

 

One test you could perform.

Go faster than the vehicle in front of you. Your vehicle should alert you.

 

Set up some boxes and test it out!

 

If it needed to have a reflective surface how about a pedestrian wearing dark clothes and how come our camray sees the same box in same driveway but taco runs the box over I don't buy the reflective tape bit ill try another test going a little faster

I'd get it to the dealer to get it fixed. Maybe this is why your collision system didn't work right.

 

I just checked the recall list my truck is on the list

 

These "smart cars" are going to end up making drivers dumb (well dumber).
