I prefill, but I put 6qrts in the engine total. Do not bother with 0.2 qrts, and oil level is right in the middle, between Low and High.

Halfway between is fine if you check it from time to time. I never run quite that low, but just in case, to avoid any foaming I always fill to just barely below the full mark.
That said, I hate the dipstick on these trucks. It's hard to get a true reading unless it sits for several hours. If not been sitting, it seems like one side shows super low and other side over full.

On this vehicle no. In the past on some vehicles, occasionally.

Only time I made a point to pre-fill filters was on 6.6 Duramax's with 0.5L of oil to them.. I don't think it was required but as an apprentice the shop foreman would hound me to do it on Duramax's. I never really asked or received an explanation if there was a reason beyond quicker oil feeding. It just became a habit for those more than anything.

Every vehicle I've had, I always fill up oil half-way on the stick. Check oil level at the fill up, occasionally, but my vehicles do not use oil in any appreciable quantity.
On a taco, I pour 6 qrts in, put a clean dipstick in, start it, drive from the shop back to the house, let it idle for 5 min, turn the truck off and pull the dipstick out. I read the part that faces the camshaft (dipstick tube curves, as it enters the oil pan). That side is usually the cleanest and has the most accurate reading.

I hate having partial bottles of oil sitting around, so 6qrts is good enough.

I always put exactly what the manufacturer recommends in this instance 6.2 quarts shut the hood and forget about it. Everyone has their own way so who am I to judge how someone does it as long as it works that’s all that matters.
