Yet it still has nothing to do with trading and investing in PMs does it?

The mounting debt is obviously bad and that will be resolved with a tightening of monetary policy which will occur in short order.

Actually I disagree. First of all the monetary system isn't failing, and secondly, if it does you won't have any counter parties to trade your silver so it doesn't really matter.

    until they do.

these threads are great entertainment, brings out the nutjobs in droves, you know, the chicken littles... (not saying everyone here is a nutjob btw)... anyone making money in precious metals is lucky (i certainly made decent money buying gold around $600 and getting out at more than double that, and i'll be the first to admit i was lucky) and anyone that doesn't understand that is lying or ignorant (probably a combination of the two). so here's to some great entertainment!

You must be missing all my posts. I no longer hold any silver, haven't for some time. And because I'm an investor and not a hoarder waiting for the end of days my previous investments in silver were held in safekeeping. Yes I pay about 50 basis points for storage but it's a lot cheaper than Fedex and easier for me to sell, which I already did. Not all silver has to be purchased in the form of numismatic coins you know.

How many times must I say that 350 trillion in debt is a bad thing for this country?

if the current monetary system fails, which may or may not happen, YES, PM's will hold their value. A holder of PM WILL be able to buy into the new system.

That's kinda what I've been saying too. I don't always agree that TA is the best but for commodities it's proved successful for several years. So far I haven't been burned knock on wood.

Back a few years a friend of mine called me up, "hey, how do i buy silver?!" he asked. I responded that it was based on the reason he wanted to buy silver... turns out his brother is a prepper, so you know the answer to that. After our conversation I went into my bosses office (our CFO) and told him that it's time to sell silver... you know when the last person is trying to jump in it's time to get out. For whatever reason, silver did plummet shortly after that - and I did give shorting silver a serious thought but didn't pull the trigger...

This is more tin foil hat / prepper though isn't it? Things are going to have be pretty damn ugly for monetary system to fail and if it does I doubt PMs will be the instrument to determine who gets a buy in to the new currency.
