I can barely get a phone screen protector on without bubbles. I think this is out of my league.

Can’t legally, but we live in a lawless time where much worse things are now essentially legal, so I’m not worried about it.

20220719_190534.jpg I matched the rear tint on the front but found it a bit dark at night. Had to open window to park truck in tight garage. Redid a shade lighter

Just so we are all aware.
You can get clear ceramic for the windshield. There doesn’t have to be a color or tint to it.
For that matter you can get any windows clear filmed

Don’t give up if you really want to learn. There are a ton of instructional videos online you just have to practice the different techniques. Cutting is a lot harder then you would think and your going to mess up all of them at first. Also the glass is not flat so you have to heat shrink everything or it will never come out perfect. Cleaning and prep is also super important. I did probably 20 or more windows before I started getting it perfect. Some your cut will be messed up and you will have to much gap or a bad corner. Some you will have a perfect cut then mess up and get a wrinkle while your tucking and it’s trash and you start over. The heat shrinking is not to hard to get down but you have to work slowly with it and not try to shrink to much at once or it will Crystallize or fold over and itself and cause a wrinkle. You will need to invest is some tools of the trade but they are all pretty inexpensive. Start with the cheap rolls from Walmart and don’t waist your good stuff till you feel like you have it down pretty good. I have found baby shampoo in water works just as good as the more expensive stuff for slip solution. Anyway just have fun with it and don’t worry if it’s not perfect right away it takes a little time like learning any new skill. I’ll post a couple pictures of one or two of the cars I’ve done. If you keep going and I can be of any help just let me know.

Sorry man got distracted with a movie. Here are a couple pictures of the first few jobs that started to come out well. You can absolutely do this yourself it’s not like painting. 50 bucks in tools and another 50-100 in practice film and you will have it down. By the time I got to my truck you couldn’t even tell it wasn’t done at a shop.

Na man you got this. No way it’s worth 800 bucks for a tint job. Whatever you choose to do though I’m sure it will come out looking good. Toss up a pic or two as you go or after you have it done have it done. It’s always fun to see the end result.

Im trying to think of how to solve my "cat hair" issue. I think I have a idea. Using the same way I do cell phone screens where you put down a layer of film, then peel it off and right away put the good film on. That way the crappy film sticks to all the cat hair and pulls it off. I could also use my compressor and air gun to blow the whole thing clean... but I feel like putting film on then peeling it off will give me the cleanest surface.

I got quotes around that price in UT in 2021 and, a year later in WA, it's $280 to $350 depending on the place.. if I can even get them to send me a quote. Crazy difference.

AZ is kinda like that. Prices are always high, because people will pay and it's hotter than heck in the summer. Unfortunately, most shop owners are dongs and refuse to do anything other than "legal limit."

My truck was already tinted when bought new and I managed to negotiate it for free, but I think those days are long gone. :burp:
