Thinking about cutting the steps off and line-x the tubes, has anyone else done this?

Why? Just curious really because they aren’t strong enough to be used as sliders. The body mounts are weak also and only means for climbing in and out. Aside from that maybe just looks?

Thought the would be strong enough to work as sliders or at least take a bash vs the frame

No, definitely not. They bolt into the rocker panel. Sliders (real ones) mount to the frame.

They’re mounted to the body. Sliders are mounted to the frame and use much better steel. If you were to go over rocks and do damage it won’t be good.

You would be better off selling the predators as they are and buy sliders if off road is your intended purpose for the truck. The steps will get hung up on a rock and break off or severly dent. If you don't or aren't going to hit the trails then keep them on.

Yes it has been done before, would work as a stone/cinder block for the rockers.
