Woodsy, do you have a link? These look to have an aluminum polished trim finish. Thank you

I love the bolt on nfabs(got them for free) do plenty of what I’ll call “soft” roading. Never had a “clearance” issue. If you aren’t gonna really crawl I would say get any of the many options that have been mentioned here and in many other posts about this same subject.

don’t let people tell you to get sliders that you don’t need.

Good question. I'm 5'6", 75 years old, with lumbar arthritis, and I don't need steps to get in. I have tube nerf bars on both my 2000 Ford Ranger and 2021 Tacoma, but I don't use them as steps. They're mostly for show.

I just pulled mine off today. Will probably put them on craigslist. They don't do anything for me but get in the way. They were on the truck when I got it and didn't think anything of it. Now that I've had the truck for a bit I can say that they're more of an inconvenience than anything for me. I was pretty surprised at how lightweight these things are.

Well, I for one like my OEM Predator bars; they look good and they serve the primary purpose of keeping the wife happy. She is a bit on the petite side and needs them to get in and out of both my Taco and my FJ. My off-roading is pretty much limited to old forest service roads I take when trout fishing in the mountains, so I don't really sweat them getting in the way.

I swapped the tube steps that came on my 21 Tacoma for the predator steps I had on my 2019 trade in. BUT when I lift it, i want to get some better rock sliders because I have a feeling these will definitely snag on something when I offroad.. even with more ground clearance.

Who wants to buy my predators?! :p

Mind sharing what you got for them? I've had my set (removed from the truck day 1, so essentially brand new, for an Access Cab) on CL for a week or so now with not much traction.

I'm in Seattle if anybody's interested.

I asked $300, took $250. I had to filter through a lot of $75 and $100 low ball offers though. Took about 3 days to sell all in all.

I’d throw a vote for the TrailFX pred step... Has a little bit more aggressive look than the stock ones... Easy to install, did it myself... They work great for the wife and kids... I don’t Off-Road so couldn’t tell about how they’d hold up, but I’d go sliders if I did that...

Sounds like some have cut the steps off... has anyone done this and used them as "sliders". At a minimum it would give 3 inches of ground clearance, and potentially offer some protection.
My sister is tagging along on a trip and I don't have time to make or order real sliders beforehand.

I'm not sure what your sister tagging along on a trip has to do with it, perhaps she will be in the 3rd gen with Predators? Looking at your avatar you probably don't need to hear any of this but you did ask.....

It might be easy to think of those tubes as protection when the steps are cutoff. The truth is they don't offer protection except in the *very* minimal sense. The problem is that they are so fragile that if you actually hit anything that real sliders would help with, the Predator tubes get pushed into your truck.

So for many (most?) situations, completely removing them is a better option. Another two - for inches of clearance. Without good sliders/skids, there really is no substitute for caution, experience, and a good spotter.

Take care, have fun, and good luck!

Bingo, she is tagging along in a 3rd gen DCLB. I took a better look at them this morning and agree that taking them off is a better option all together. They could become a damage multiplier if they made contact with rocks. Even my light ass was enough to bend and flex them. Sliders it is, and careful spotting for this trip :)

I’m also near Seattle and on my 3rd set of Predator steps. (Previous Tacoma and 4Runner) I like them. I would’ve jumped on your set if I didn’t already have my own. Somebody will want your set but the access cabs are not nearly as common as the double cabs so it’ll be a smaller market. Good luck and enjoy the improving weather around here.
