EXACTLY why I did not get these predator steps! I mean, one can just LOOK at them and see that they will easily get caught on just such things as parking next to a curb. They don't look good either, although I'll admit that us subject to taste. I got the black running boards and they are $697 INSTALLED at the dealer, meaning you can get them yourself for less. I don't know, but I also just like the flat running boards better, as I imagine the aerodynamics, and there is no doubt the flat running boards are better aerodynamically than the predator steps. Here is a pic of mine:

I am providing a link to the official Toyota Accessories site. The ones I got are the Oval Tubular in black. They also have the flat aluminum ones and those are $895, and I think the oval tubular ones look better. When i was looking to buy my Tacoma, most of the ones on the lot that had running boards installed, had either the flat aluminum boards or the predator ones. I was going to have them order and install the flat aluminum ones, but then, I was shown the oval tubular ones. When I picked up the truck, I was WELL PLEASED with my decision to go with the oval tubular ones. They look better and are actually cheaper than the flat aluminum ones! Here is the link:

I happen to like the Predator steps from a aesthetics perspective. However, the salesperson presented them to me as "rock sliders". From that perspective, Predators make no sense: those welded-on steps will go flying the moment they hit a rock.

i took one look at the predators and thought- man, those are going to be hitting the dirt when i take my taco up the mountain. what i am talking about is a private gravel road that goes up to a mountain place i have. you need 4x4 but it's not rocks and boulders, rather some small, creak gravel rocks and some water breaks and some steep hills. a subaru can do it. But i did need something to get to the top off the truck to wash it and wax up there. So i looked around and got the tyger armor bars. less than $300 shipped from Amazon. They rock! solid and look good and most importantly allow me to get to the top of the truck easily. They also don't hang far below the frame. about 1 inch lower. If they hit, i am somewhere i do not belong- probably.

Is that what they typically sell for? I debated bothering to remove them before trading my truck in.

No.. I thought that was cheap. Taking them off the truck wouldn’t take long. I think there’s 6 bolts on each side and that’s it.

Put a set of aluminum steps on today. Not much for a step and they are a little bit in the way but I can stand on them to wax the roof and mostly not worry about door dings20190831_111113.jpg 20190831_111016.jpg

I bought a set of Rough Country step bars for my 2018 TRD Sport (Double Cab Short Bed).
    https://www.roughcountry.com/rc-toy...05809.html?find=2018-toyota-tacoma-4wd-374229

They look nice, were easy enough to install, and I really like them so far. They feel really solid. However they are steel and the ends are not capped. Though they are powder coated to help protect against the elements, I live in Michigan where the salty winter roads can be brutal on vehicles. Anywhere there is a scratch or ding is a potential rust spot. I am anxious to see how they hold up through their first winter this year.

Anyway, if you get the opportunity to buy a set of aluminum predator steps for $350 or less, I would definitely do it.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
I just put a set of Toyota Predator step bars on my truck yesterday. I found them on car-parts.com, off of a 7000 mile totaled for $200. Figured I couldn't go wrong for that.

I would check Craigslist, OfferUp and LetGo.

$200 to $300 seem to be the going rate for all the variants. I traded my shark boards for Predator.

They can easily be removed if you are worries about snagging them off road.

Are you still looking for some predator steps? I have mine I'd be willing to sell. I can meet in south OC.

Asking $300 firm. Came off 2017 DCLB. No dents, dings, or scratches.

they seem to be on every single 2019 taco for sale at south jersey dealerships. Heavy markup and easy profit of course so I cant say I'm surprised. Just hope I don't have to deal with a bunch of useless dealer add ons when I start negotiating on a 2020 model. Major ripoff
