It literally says in your owners manual that your truck transmits data.

Someone needs to go find a spectrum analyzer and confirm it to kill this thread.

TSS-P records data that is considered, by definition, telematics. Holy shit dude.

    Telematics:
Telematics is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses telecommunications, vehicular technologies, for instance, road transportation, road safety, electrical engineering, and computer science.

It states in the manual that they transmit data without your permission.

There is more proof of them transmitting than them not.

I believe they have with the question "transmit to where, exactly?" Did you give your truck your wifi password? Does it make sense for Toyota to foot the bill for 300,000 individual transmitters to the Verizon cellular network? Is there a satellite in orbit with the TRD trim package and hood scoop? Where is the middle carrier for this data?

Don't worry. Toyota is teaming up with the NGA to equip it with a pro grille and ditch lights. Just isn't listed on the NROL schedule.

It does not say how it is transmitted and that's exactly my point. Keyboard warriors are content to try to bully their ways to feeling right, yet have absolutely no proof from anywhere that their vehicle does not transmit data.

Agreed. Im not saying it doesn’t. All I’m saying is that using an antenna to bolster his argument just makes him look ignorant. Those systems he cited and the fact that the truck has an antenna could and probably are all be passive - as in receiving. The truck isn’t “transmitting” weather or gps, it’s receiving them. An antenna doesn’t prove shit.

and I’ll go one more and dare say that the most likely means of transmission is though the phone. Why? Because it makes sense. It’s a lot easier and the system is already in place. Maybe I’m wrong but I’d be very surprised if that’s what they did.

And you just proved my point.
You also have no idea how they transmit that data....

I agree with you that the presence of an antenna proves nothing (I have one on my truck taht isn' even wired currently). Just offering a definitive. A spectrum analyzer would even give you the bandwidth so you could see what medium it transmits over.

You are soooooo good at Google.

You do understand that the 2020s come with telematics. Telematics in the auto industry generally refers to car that actually transmit:

The density is high with you.

The fact is you were being arrogant when you don't know that your truck isn't transmitting data. The OM states that it is, and it has antennas capable of doing such things.

Nowhere does it say it uses your cell phone, so you simply cannot assume your truck does not have transmission abilities.

That says nothing about how it's transmitted.

Can you prove that those antennas transmit?

One more thought then I’m out as far as the subject’s concerned. In the end what does it really matter how they do it? The fact that they do it is what counts no? :notsure:
