    Hi All,
I'm new to the forum but have had several Tacomas and find them to be great. The current one is a 2005 v6. Runs great, but it has 240000 miles on it. Any thoughts on replacing the fuel pump just because of the age and mileage?
I travel across the country a couple times a year and don't want to be stuck waiting for a pump in the middle of the country.

I probably will do mine with the regular URD one.

supposedly you don’t actually need to take the bed off and can bring it down with a trans jack after removing the skid plate.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I would do it. They don't cost that much and aren't too hard to replace (when the tank is fairly empty).

I just changed mines recently (for different reasons), with the URD kit and AEM pump. I used two floor jacks along with having my tank almost empty. Job was simple enough, if you plan to do yourself. There's good videos on YouTube for all the connections you need to touch.

Ordered the regular URD kit. Need to find the thread where they link a clear hose supposedly that’s better to put while in there.

I didn't have access to a lift here so I raised the box. It was a very easy job. New pump went in without any problems.

what about that clear plastic pipe people say to get separately (for the URD kit)

did you need any special tools like loosening pump top cap lock ring/retainer?

I used an OEM pump from Toyota. I figured the previous one was still working at 238,000 miles so why not, so it was just a plug and play, no extra pipe. The cap lock has a bunch of ridges on it so I just tapped it with a screwdriver and it came off and went back on easily. I actually had great access with the box lifted partway.
