Okay, so I had a little email chat with my local Toyota dealer about when they'll be able to write up an order for a 2015 Tacoma for me.

After telling him the options I would like, he dropped a little nugget that he'd tell me about "preferencing vehicles" a little later.

Anybody have clue what this might be?

Why don't (or didn't) you ask him? Usually when someone trying to make money off of yo and they say, "I'll tell you about that later" it's not a good sign.

It means that they'll have it built the way you want it (i.e. what the dealer is preferring option wise, for what they think will sell best on their lot), but you won't have to put anything down because technically it's coming for the dealer, not you. They did that for mine, because I wasn't sure I'd love an access-cab (though that was the only way I could get a 5spd).

That sounds reasonable. I don't think I want anything all that unusual, TRD Sport DCSB, 4x4, tow package, premium sound. The only real odd thing, at least around here is that I want blue. I see darn few Sports around here, I have never seen one in Blue Ribbon Metalic.

I assume if they order it for their own inventory I could test drive that particular model before I buy, and they'd maybe more negotiable on price?
