Given the problems I’m reading about with blower and seat element connectors getting cooked I personally wouldn’t fudge it like that, especially with something that might be on for hours at a time. A few seconds or minutes maybe but not with a light bar.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it either. But if it saves them a few bucks per unit, they just might.

Or, maybe the light bar doesn't actually pull 16A.

I've also noticed that as well. Additionally if there are instructions included, most light bars will state to use 16awg wire if it does not come with a harness or if it come with a harness that uses 16awg (sometimes even 18awg) wire. Granted that is usually the el cheapos but it's still common place on many light bars.

I'm looking at Diode Dynamics, the 42" light bar. I have a whole pile of colored 12awg and 18awg in my project basket at home. Plus a Bussman, Powertrays, Bluesea, and any number of other connectors and such. Still need to buy my 4awg for connecting to the battery but I'm holding off on that until I measure.

Thank you! I'll have to check it out! I dont't know why I never thought about checking out the retrofit sites frequent way too often...haha I just can't leave things alone, all 4 of my vehicles are retrofitted.

Yes sir! We understand wanting/needing to build custom harnesses too. Also be sure to see my second reply right above this!

@TRSAndrew changing subjects for a moment. Out of curiosity concerning projectors. Out of 2 projectors which would you choose? MLED 2.0 or G5-BRT threaded shaft? I have AFS RX350 projectors currently with an STI-R lens swap and Osram NBL and I would really like more of a hot-spot, it just seems lacking compared to my D2S 4.0 (shield drop) and EVOX-R (I don't expect to get a hot spot like these though). I have an extra set of headlights that I have been thinking about starting a second build with.

Amp Superseal 1.5’s max at 14A.

I haven't tested any non-Morimoto G5 variants unfortunately. MLED 2.0s are fantastic for LEDs though!
