Wait a minute. This may be the more responsible adult coming out...but seriously? I hate dead beat fathers. I had one and many other do too. This to me sounds like you wont work b/c football is more important that IF you had a kid. If she does end up getting preggo, I sure hope you man the fuck up and get a job and take care of your responsibilities. Don't be a dick and leave your baby and baby's momma fending for themselves or looking towards her parents! Time to be a man. If I read your post wrong then Im sorry, like I said, I can't stand dead beat dads.

Wow. Way to read way too much into one paragraph.

What if he is really good at football and can make it to the NFL and get millions of dollars and a free education out of it, too? Would he be "manning the fuck up" by not providing a pretty damn good future for said child and wife?

How about if he isn't NFL material, but football gets him a scholarship to a school? Again, free education. Better job. More money. Should he still "man the fuck up" and go get that high-school-degree job?

What about all the other benefits which may or may not come from participating in football? Coaching, physical therapy, equipment, video services, scouting, etc. What if he can achieve a quality position in one of these fields with a continuation in football instead of flipping burgers or stocking shelves?

Gotta think big-picture. In case you haven't noticed, people WITH college degrees aren't doing so hot these days -- and looking at the numbers, people WITHOUT them are much, much worse.

There's a difference between being a "dead-beat dad" and not doing what's in the best interests of the child.

That being said, if the girl IS pregnant, be a fucking man and do EVERYTHING you can for that kid and his/her mom. It might not necessarily be financial, but your decisions should always be based around them.

If she's NOT, stop being fucking stupid. Wrap that shit and get her on the pill.

Talk to your family if you need to. The "We're sexually active" conversation is a whole lot less uncomfortable than the "You're going to be a Grandma" conversation.

guys youre all fucktards. by football he means his charity work he does overseas to help quell the malaria problem in southeast asia. He only gets paid in food that he recieves as pay from the villagers, so having another job would be hard.

If I were the op and had a baby on the way I wouldn't worry too much about football. I'd be worried about getting a job to help provide for the family. You can't count on HS football to put food on the table when one wrong move, a bad tackle, even the slightest injury puts people out of the game. If you can't play you can't be scouted, no scouting means no advancement. Assuming he did make it to college or the NFL and got injured, unless he's a prodigy, he will be dropped like a hot potato. Besides there are millions of people trying to make it to the NFL the odds of that happening are way to high to put a family's future on the line.
