This is definitely a 4 year BUMP but I've always enjoyed googling relevant topics to me and typing in "TacomaWorld" at the end of the phrase just to see if there's a topic for it here on TW. :D

Well I literally just typed "pregnant tacomaworld" into google and this thread was the first post that showed up.
My girlfriend and I are PREGNANT for the first time! :goingcrazy: :D :D :D

Check out this short video I put together. :)

Congratulations! :) I hope you two are happy about this and that soon you can stop calling her "girlfriend" and perhaps something more appropriate. ;)

    Nope. She's pregnant.

And when things get tough it will be your fault.

So don't forget who's having the baby, and who is in the support role.

    Congratulations!

Baghh. Come on, Bill. She might be the one who will carry the child to term but the guy is trying to be one with his woman. In my mind the idea that "they" are pregnant means he's full invested. As opposed to some sleaze ball saying, "She's pregnant, not me. I'm out of here." This is something they'll experience together - albeit from very different perspectives.

I agree, from the emotional perspective. And if that makes her happy, it's even better!

But that said, it's common for a mother to be to have both physical and emotional distress (even if it's not till labor!) and suddenly the father is the target of her displeasure. Although it is often brief. It happens. At that point, it's really best to be in a full on 'yes dear' mode, and avoid the 'we're in this together'. 'Cause she won't be buying it. :D

My hope for all is that the pregnancy is smooth sailing for everyone, as well as the years of parenting that follow!

My girlfriend and I have gotten used to saying "we" for everything. ;)

When I get paid "we get paid," when she gets paid "we get paid." When it has come down to it, there wasn't "I'm broke," it's "we're broke". I've found that saying "we" instead of "I" in most instances has only strengthened our relationship. In my parent's crappy relationship (due to my crap father) he always used "me, my, mine" but when things went wrong it was always my mom's fault according to him and his lack of being able to man up when it came time to man up!

In the Marine Corps (if the situation allows) the word "we" is almost always used instead of just "I" or "me." It does WONDERS for moral and cohesion.

I know where I stand in the relationship. I know what my role is. Sooo we're pregnant. ;) PLUS she thinks the same way.
