I finally received the recall notice for my '17 and called the closest dealer. Was told that this was just a preliminary notice and that I would receive another notice when parts are available. I called another dealer (1 hour away) and was told that I could have the replacement completed within a week and that I should have minimum fuel in the tank. Needless to say, I made the appointment.
For shits and grins, I called yet another dealer (2 hours away) and was told the same thing about the preliminary notice and no parts.
Can anyone explain why one dealer knows all about it and can complete the repair and two others read from a script on a computer screen, please?

Within a week, sounds like they don't actually have the pump in hand, I could be wrong though. Either way, they get reimbursed from Toyota, so it's work ($) for all of them. I was told they'd let me know when they actually get a pump for me,,, which is my preference anyways, my truck runs fine and I don't want it sitting on a lot waiting indefinitely.

The dealer orders the fuel pumps as they need it and have to update each truck vin number so that your Tacoma won’t have the recall still.

17's arent up yet in my area, you'll likely be turned around when you get to the dealer.

I got the notice today as well, but it looks like it will be March 2021 when the remedy will be available.

I'll probably be due for an oil change about the same time, so I'll try to get them both done at the same time.

One thing I'd like them to do, as a courtesy, is change the number of flashes of the directional from 3 to 6.

Is it worth it to ask them to do TSB-0092-20? My truck was build in February 2019. I occasionally have a weird shift accelerating away from traffic lights and in the 40-50 mph range.

I was able to get the blinker setting changed as a courtesy, they will likely do that for you free of charge.

For the TSB, it can't hurt to ask. Your best strategy would be to memorize the conditions listed in the TSB, bring the print out in when you go for service, and tell them you are experiencing those exact symptoms. Maybe they take your word for it, or maybe they drive it to attempt to duplicate the problem and conveniently "cannot replicate the issue". Worst case, you can probably pay them for the labor to apply it.

Good idea. The service writer I used for some years was very good on courtesy work, but he seems to have left there for a job at a different dealership. I'm planning to try to work with one of the more experienced guys who knows that I've been a customer there for a long time. The newer guys don't seem to have all that much interest in getting to know the customers.

Went in for a few parts and dealer told me they looked up my Vin and had the parts for recall. An hour later was done. About 3 weeks ago now.

I have a 2018 and received the "Remedy Available" notice a few weeks ago, so I think the timeline linked above is outdated.

Either way, my dealer told me they could only order the part if my VIN was noted as remedy available in their system. Luckily, they had someone cancel their appointment and had one ready to use when I called back with the new notice.

Edit: They also told me the same about the gas tank, but when I let them know I had 3/4ths of a tank at the time they told me not to worry about it. I think they just prefer to not have it as heavy if possible.

Thanks everyone. I called dealer #2 and spoke with another service advisor and he did indeed correct the error. My timetable, based up my VIN/Mfg date, lists me as March 2021. Id have been pissed sideways if I had driven all the way there and got sent back.

Hey man. I called Flow Toyota in Statesville today. They have parts on order (per my phone call) and parts will be in tomorrow. Taking my truck there Friday due to my own schedule, but FYI...

Not too far away from you. Mike Johnson in Hickory, Fred Anderson in Asheville, and Bryan Easler in Hendersonville all told me no parts until 3/2021. I REALLY hope they have the parts when you get there. Please advise. Thanks.
