Royal Purple and Amsoil are equally top options.

I need to find out for myself if it improves smoothness. I don't have any issues with shifting it from 1st to 2nd smoothly and I haven't been turning anything off. :notsure:

    Thanks!

It is a definite improvement. Worth doing.

Word from the dealer confirms it's all in my head.

    How right you are, sir.

My clutch had an annoying "click" when you first started depressing the pedal, turns out there was actually a gap between the threaded rod and the pedal itself. The pedal was literally doing nothing but compressing the return spring for the first 10-15mm of travel, then it would smack into the rod -CLICK.
The service manual details the entire procedure on how to adjust this (rod freeplay I think it was called). If you're gonna do it, do the whole thing including all the other checks (adjusting rod freeplay will of course affect other things).
At the end of the day, the reason I did it myself was because the dealer said - "It's hydraulic, there is no adjustment". Well I guess they were partially correct - no wear adjustment. I got it within the SM spec and no more click.

The other side effect of having driven the car so much recently, then getting back in my Taco... I forgot how much I really do love my truck. The 1.03 test tune is pretty sweet. I'm looking forward to the 1.04 release. Maybe i'll even find the time this weekend to finally put in my URD short throw shifter I got before I even took the truck home...:smack:
