So my 2017 with 10k miles has seat wear on the bottom cushion, similar to how OPs looked on the top back of his. Gulf States Toyota denied the repair authorization request.

Guess I need to call and open a case on my end

Disappointing that the seat wears so quickly yet my 26 year old CRX seat bottom looks brand new.

Dang. I have 20k, not even a year old and looks brand new. Though I don't drag my body across the seat when getting in and out.

I assure you it's not a matter of dragging my ass across the seat. I'm especially careful getting into the truck because I've had cars with bolster wear and I'm super paranoid about that.

I also carry a very thin cardholder wallet and I don't wear any kind of heavy pants nor do I have any pockets with Velcro closures.

Maybe it's the way I pivot my body or something but either way, it shouldn't be happening so soon

We'll need to start scouring junkyards for limited, pro or 2018 wrecks and get their seats.

    A couple things
My old Frontier had the same wear, but it took about 100k miles for it to look too bad. Because of that I put a set of cheap universal fit covers on the front seats the day I brought it home.

They are keeping the seats in pristine condition until the Clazzios are purchased to replace them.

15K on my 2017 SR5 AC with significant fraying. What I wouldn't give to have my 2002 SR5 AC 60/40 velour seats back! They had 240,000 miles on 'em with no wear! Why bother get the new one's replaced by Toyota under warranty if they're going to use the same material and I'm out a day or two for the needed work? I'm either going with Classio's or Wet Okole.

I have the EXACT same issue on my 2017 3rd generation Tacoma TRD with just 20k miles. this is the 3rd one I have purchased. I will post pictures that look EXACTLY the same as your problem. I am at Big 2 Toyota in Gilbert Arizona right now. The manager said they would replace the Front Seat cover as a "customer courtesy" but I told him I don't care if is a courtesy, if in a few months this happens again in a few months I will be back. After our discussion I will have to admit he seamed pretty good to help but lets see I damanded everything in writing. Toyota obviously chose a material that cannot hold up. I don't want to go through what I had to with my previous gen Tacoma where the Air Bag clockspring cable was defective and basically shut down the airbags. I was told by this same Toyota dealer at the time that it would cost $2500 to get it all fixed the system. It took almost 3 years before Toyota was pressured enough to recall and fix it for free. Don't let off the hook. For the price of a Tacoma these days so many other good Trucks are availble on the market. Its about time Toyota gets back to what made them great in the first place and fix all this and appreciate their reliable customers.

For you folks that have 2016/2017s and have the upholstery issue like I did................just go out and get the Cassio's and put some lipstick on that pig. Yep, I know, it's still a pig, i.e., the crappy upholstery.

I had a similar issue with my 2005 TRD OR. When I got my 2018, the first thing I did was order up some seat covers.

I’m hoping one of these model years they will add it back on so we can all upgrade our older models. Haven’t checked the inside of the ‘18 yet but I’m sure we would have heard by now.

    Agreed.

There was none on the preproduction ones. Maybe next year. Our luck, they'll change the interior color also.
