Will the 2nd gen TRD covers fit the 3rd gen seats?

@MAKAIRA Nope, and the second gen seats were way more comfortable than these third gen problem seats....actually I am tired of this... I have owned 3 gens of tacomas...the last one I had that airbag sensor clockspring problem that took toyota 3 years to fix...all this time the air bag system wouldn't work. I am tired of tacomas and this 2016 trd with tons of options is my last. I will trade for probable a Ford or Jeep comming up.

Mine has been great but being a 2005 with 265k starting to think about selling and getting another.
Ford has a great anti theft option! Not sure about a ford unless it was a Raptor.I think jeeps have their issues also.264E616B-6AFC-4B3C-A36F-83067DE25D15.jpg9E4F428C-AB07-4C9B-A5FD-0E920043F9FE.jpg

I was lucky enough to purchase the OEM seat covers from someone that replaced their interior with the katskinz leather replacements... once my seats wear and get sun bleached I’ll have a shop replace with the new ones

I've begun to see the same thing on my 2016 on the driver's side bolster. Not quite as bad as yours. Guess it's standing on the rock rails and dropping into the seat when I get in. Everyone knows how low the seats are in Tacos! Looking at forums today regarding seat covers. Wish I had bought a set when the truck was new.

Yea, I'm 6'1" 200lbs and feel like I have to crumple myself up to get in. Getting out doesn't seem to be an issue for some reason.

I put in some Clazzio covers on right after I bought it to make sure something like this doesn't happen.

    Lightweight! I’m 6’2” just a bit over 300 and I don’t crumple!

After nearly 18 years of punishment, the fabric on my 1st gen SR5 seats held up pretty good despite looking pretty grungy. I was thinking that the fabric looked kinda cheap on my new to me 2016 SR and the first thing I purchased for it was seat covers... good thing I guess.

I've been meaning to keep a beach towel behind the seat on those days when I get filthy at work, but I forget and today I got so muddy/dirty that I had to lay some extra shirts on my seats to keep my seat covers clean... so I was thinking that maybe I need some cheap seat covers to protect my seat covers. :der::rofl:

    They do.

Bought a set shortly after buying my truck.

Great results thus far. Adds to the comfort of the seat for me.

I miss this grab handle. Sure would've been nice to have it.

Not the same experience on my 2007 Frontier SE 4x4 DC. Drove it 11 years as my daily driver. Seat cover wear occurred after two years....the back cloth material....the lower seat edge was a different fabric that actually held up much better. Bolster and back cloth wore badly, though.

Truck was rock solid first 9 years otherwise....then repair bills started to aggravate the hell outa me.

It would've been nice if Toyota had used a combination of materials on the various surfaces. When I was shopping for my new 3rd Gen, I also looked at a pair low milage used models they had on the lot and could see similar wear to the OP's with under 10K on the trucks. I knew upfront that I'd be springing for some type of seat cover early on.

I've got shot-out knees that are overdue for replacement....not even 50 years on the original pair, lol.....so I don't climb in/out as I probably should. I tend to slide in/out. Bad knees are one of the reasons I like midsize 4x4 trucks....easy to get in and out without having to step up like I would with a full sized truck. I know there will be some premature wear on my cover material and simply plan for it.

I just hope the rest of this 3rd Gen will hold up well for the next 15+ years that I plan on driving this truck. The next five will see it being my daily driver, too.

Kahki slacks, jeans, gym pants or sandpaper whatever will be worn as wanted. Zero fukks given. I know it's a weak point of the truck and will deal with it in the future as needed. The Wet Okole covers are doing great so far.......

I keep one of these in the truck for those extra dirty days. Stays in place better than a beach towel and offers more protection (water resistant).

for cloth seats, a good aftermarket seat cover is an absolute must......unless you wear suits to work every day, cloth seats are going to be disgusting and grungy in no time.

ive had Trail gear covers on since day 1...hard wearing and work great.....plus you can pop them off and toss them in the wash when they get gross

Don’t laugh too hard I have cheap rubber mats on top of my oem all weather mats in each vehicle. And cheap ($25 costco) seat covers go on day one until I figure out what covers I want long term. I wear work pants with Velcro pockets, I knew this would be an issue.

Also the seat covers are the same I have used in like 3 other vehicles and they are wearing wearing much faster than usual. I believe the absence of a grab bar is really the culprit. I would grab the steering wheel but then that would probably wear out... I use my truck for service work and I am in/out 20-30x a day.

Same here!!! Toyota is been using the same seat material for a loooong time. I don't believe they made any changes either. People tend to slide off my passenger side like a kids slide all the time and no problem, but i hate when i see it happen.
